Dreams I'll Never See - Molly Hatchet (ABB tune)
Barracuda - Alice In Chains with Gretchen Wilson (of Redneck Woman fame) on vocals - not a true "cover" but this just kicks arse

How????

Raw vocals.

And I don't like the Beatles even a bit.

edit: I do appreciate you asking though instead of just downvoting with no discussion.

It's annoying when someone downvotes an opinion where the point of the thread is to discuss. I don't give a crap about the downvote, but I do like the reasoning behind people's thought processes.

Very good examples but I would put "Where did you sleep last night" from Leadbelly as the best of the show and one of the best live performances of any song ever.

Absolutely. Killer version.

If Cobain had lived, he'd have done well in a Neil Young fashion--putting out an electric rock album followed by acoustic stuff like we heard on Unplugged.

I think he could've put out a lot more great music doing this.

Even though when I hear the song it makes me want to throw up it has to be mentioned, Whitney Houston's cover of "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton

Love me some Dolly Parton. She was on Letterman shortly after that cover came out. He was trying to troll her saying how many more copies Whit ey's versipn sold blah blah. Dolly giggled and replied that my bank account thanks her - she's making me millions.

Dolly's version > Whitney's - hands down.

Oh and Jimmy Hendeix All Along the Watchtower on of my fav covers.

Sorry for the typos but I can't find my readers. What do you expect from a Bauhous fan. No one under the age of 40 is aBauhaus fan.

Agree with all of this. Guitar World published a book on "grunge" and did an in depth look into Nirvana's Unplugged show. Nirvana didn't initially reveal the meat puppets would be the guests--only that they would have special guests on stage. The producers at MTV thought it would be someone like Vedder or Cornell. When the meat puppets showed up, everyone was pissed

Also, If I remember correctly, they planned on doing an encore, but Kurt Cobain said he didn't believe he'd be able to top their performance of "Where did you sleep last night" and decided to leave the taping as is.

ETA: as far as covers I've always liked Waylon Jennings' cover of "Can't You See" better than the original.
