Surprisingly, they’re sometimes overlooked. They created some
some truly radio friendly music and could deliver live.
I heard a hilarious interview when Ocasek recounted the time they opened for Dickie Betts’ Great Southern. It went as expected: dodging beer bottles…

My first concert. Wang Chung opened for them.

Someone threw a drink at Orr during Bye Bye Love in the live show in England I posted above, and you can see his reaction, he mouths "I'm gonna get you" or something. The reception was icy, and they played that show with a huge chip on their shoulders.

I never bought anything by them, but back when I was in a band, we did some of their songs. It was goofy fun stuff.
These days, it's cool when they play their stuff on radio.
Unpretentious.

Hell yes. 1984 was a great year for music and videos, and the video for Magic is still one of my favorites. Great song...

I can relate. In 1988 on spring break at Padre I saw Triumph and the opening act was Richard Marx.

Was never really a fan, wasn’t a genre of music I listened to. Took my girlfriend at that time who was a huge fan, probably around ‘79 or ‘80, to see them at the Riverside Centroplex in BR. Was an amazing concert. The music, and especially the sound was fantastic. Great surprise. Really began to appreciate what they were about.

That was the first vinyl LP i bought with my own money. I still have it and it still sounds great. Hello Again is a killer track.

Supertramp, Cars, and Nick Gilder - 1981: Cobo Hall, Detroit
The Cars were great. Exceeded a high expectation.

Let’s Go, My best friends girl, and Just what I needed
were staples on my 80’s mixed tapes.
