They have to be right? I'm not a big fan of the genre overall but Deja Entendu is a 2000's classic. Their other albums are strong as well.

The whole emo scene came and went hard and fast but Brand New holds up pretty well IMO.

Brand New isn't an emo band.

Also, i'm not sure why you're hung up on Deja, which is a great record, when TDAGARIM is unfrickingbelievable.

They ride the line of rock and emo harder than anyone else.

Deja is a better record. More diverse and consistent.

For me it's either the Get Up Kids or American Football.

I love me some Brand New and are one of my favorites for sure. But I just don't think they were prolific enough to be considered one the GOATs and have been so on and off and secretive especially since the Devil and God.

Although the albums they did put out are straight quality and will definitely be considered among the best.

Favorite Brand New Song.

Hate the term "emo".

Every time someone labels Brand New as emo I automatically assume they have not listened to anything past Deja Entendu.

Its difficult for me to pinpoint what Brand New is now. I'd say they're indie like Modest Mouse and Radiohead now (post Deja).

They're my favorite band and I'm kinda bummed to know that they are hanging it up in 2018, but at least they gave us a heads up.

Possibly my favorite Brand New song.

I'd go Sunny Day Real Estate, Promise Ring, and Jawbreaker. If they qualify as emo, as the label is pretty amorphous, I'd put Rites of Spring as #1 but they hated the label and only played about 5 shows and released one record anyway.

American Football has a new album coming out. Couldn't ever get into second wave emo, though the Get Up Kids were pretty great.
