How in THE HELL can you leave Sign O'the Times off of your 1987 list???

You've got Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam on the list (who I liked by the way) for heaven's sake. I understand taste is different for each person, but to quote the 47th best president in our history: "C'mon man!!!"

I enjoyed his music (raspberry beret, I would die for you, little red corvette) and his movie. He’s extremely talented all around. But I don't think I’ve ever purchased his music or played it for pleasure. I might have listen to him more when I was younger and I probably played a song on Dec 31, 1999. But I don’t listen to him now or have even thought about him except for that time he change his name and we had to refer to him as ¥ and then again when he died. There are a lot of great musicians I left off my list from that list. A lot of people love Michael Jackson I can’t stand him and his music. Thriller had a cool video. The Spacewalk was iconic.
What’s one of your favorite albums?! Just curious

Lots of great music years listed in this thread, but 1987 is my favorite by far.

I wore Thriller out in the summer of 1983, but as time went on, it got to where I couldn't stand Michael Jackson.

I agreed with over half of your list, like I said before, always liked Lisa Lisa (I was just shocked you would mention that and not Sign O'the Times). And I do think 1987 was a strong year for albums. I like most genres, but have always leaned toward R&B.

My previous post was mostly tongue in cheek, I agree your taste is YOUR taste.

Got it. They didn't seem to fit with the other bands you listed, and now I see why you omitted Sign O'the Times. You're not big into R&B. I still liked the handful of hits they had back then.

1973 was pretty insane…

That would be my pick. Missing from your list is Wake of the Flood by the Grateful Dead, the first album they released on their own label. Traffic released the live On the Road in ‘73. Also, Miles Davis released two double live albums that year, the first from New York and the second from San Francisco. The latter, Black Beauty: Miles Davis at Fillmore West is probably better known but In Concert: Live at Philharmonic Hall might be the better performance.

White Album
Astral Weeks
Village Green
Beggar's Banquet
Ruben & The Jets
Blood Sweat & Tears I

were all released within 3 weeks of each other in late 1968

Also released in 1968

Aretha Now - Aretha Franklin
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida - Iron Butterfly
Renaissance - Vanilla Fudge
Music from Big Pink - The Band
Waiting for the Sun - The Doors
Journey to the Center of the Mind - Amboy Dukes
Mama Tried - Merle Haggard
The Hurdy Gurdy Man - Donovan
Electric Ladyland - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
At Folsom Prison - Johnny Cash

And self-titled debut albums by Steppenwolf, James Taylor, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Three Dog Night.

Plenty more as well, it was a very good year I think.

Let's be even more precise with 1991. In the span of a month and a half you had

Metallica – Metallica (The Black Album), August 12, 1991
Pearl Jam – Ten, August 27, 1991
Guns N’ Roses – Use Your Illusion I & II, September 17, 1991
Red Hot Chilli Peppers – Blood Sugar Sex Magik, September 24, 1991
Soundgarden – Badmotorfinger, September 24, 1991
Nirvana – Nevermind, September 24, 1991

not his best work, but Ozzy released No More Tears during that month and a half too.

and then as mentioned earlier
Temple of the Dog
Achtung Baby (U2)
Gish (Smashing Pumpkins)

If Country is more your style, George Strait, Alana Jackson, Garth Brooks, and Brooks & Dunn all dropped decent albums that year too
