Nothing wrong with 5150 or Carnal Knowledge album

Or OU812 - I'm not crazy about Balance, but isn't it interesting that no VH album reached #1 on the U.S. charts without Sammy Hagar and every Van Hagar album reached #1 on the U.S. charts?

Balance was the beginning of the end for VH as far as I'm concerned - loved 'Don't Tell Me'. Tensions were running high and maybe this is where EVH turned into the jerk he became. It was around this time or after that Eddie began to take over bass parts in the studio, leaving Mike on the outside looking in. No matter whether it's DLR, SH, or GC on lead vox, Michael Anthony is the vocal backbone of Van Halen.

With the talk of best VH album, what do people think of the two DLR greatest hit songs 'Me Wise Magic' & 'Can't Get This Stuff Anymore'. I like MWM a lot.

He looked like he wanted to run from DLR . Can't blame him that was painful.

God that was PAINFUL. Dave needs to hang it up, he's done.

Man, that was BAD…and this is coming from a diehard VH fan. I listened to "Jump" which is already available on Spotify from the upcoming live release and it wasn't any better.

I get losing your voice but he looked incoherent. With the live album release he had to have sounded better on that. Wowzers.

I think he broke his nose before the show. Either EVH punched him or he hit himself with that damn pole

Exactly…no one would expect him to sound like he did 35 years ago, and to be fair, he never had great pipes, but he looked like he couldn't even keep up. it reminded me of really bad karaoke.

the mic stand twirling was classic funny DLR, EVH looked better than he has in ages, Wolfie needs to get on mom's Jenny Craig. I sure hope a lot of tour tix have been sold because that performance would keep me away. Horrible......

Tweet from Kimmel........

@jimmykimmel: #DavidLeeRoth was attacked by a particularly vicious microphone. He ran with the devil anyway @VanHalen

Apparently it was the mic/stand. Can't wait for the videos to hit the web. He had to leave the stage and get bandaged. Lol

Sammy Hagar is one the most underrated and under appreciated rockers ever. Guy always kills it live - tremendous vocal ability, energy, crowd interaction and great guitar player.

I understand the "No Dave, no Van Halen" crowd. You can feel that way.

But "Dreams", "Right Now", "Why Can't This Be Love", "Finish What You Started", "Best of Both Worlds" and many others are great tunes.

"Top of the World" immediately played in Miami after the Saints won the Super Bowl.

Big Van Hagar guy here.

Agree, as I would imagine most VH fans would. It's a shame their only #1 hit was the synthed out, pop style Jump.

That just aint Van Halen man!

Exactly, but in reality, Dave's live act has never changed. Love him on the old albums, but I saw VH three or four times in the late 70's, early 80's, and he was exactly the same way live every time: never ever sang along or kept time with the music, forgot lyrics, made up lyrics, spoke the lyrics instead of singing them, etc. His voice is shot now without a doubt, and the dude is definitely weirded out. Heard some samples from the new live album (which I'll get regardless), and Dave was struggling, to put it nicely. It's a shame. Eddie looked great, sounded great, and the band was tight.
