Any movie with "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star. The most used song in motion pictures. Very interesting fact.

Also thought about that, and the fiddle thing from last Of The Mohicans, they used it in several scenes, but it worked well for that movie.
How about Knockin On Heaven's Door, from Pat Garret and Billy The Kid?

Marty is the master, and Goodfellas is his masterpiece. Not just Layla, but all the songs - it's almost surreal when rewatching it how the songs capture the passage of time in the show.
In addition to Layla, there is also the medley during the truly great montage of the day Henry Hill got captured.
Since the films are always compared (and the consensus is that Goodfellas is better), Casino has similarly excellent use of period music to capture a vibe, but nothing to equal those 2 pieces in Goodfellas.
"Stuck in the Middle With You" in Reservoir Dogs is also a brutally effective piece of music. Tarantino so badly wants to be Marty and he comes close in RD and Pulp Fiction, even with the music.

Either the opening scene to Devil's Rejects or the closing scene. Either is gold

The Crystals (aka Darlene Love) - "He's A Rebel", from Scorpio Rising (1964) -- perhaps the first "poetic" use of a rock record

Moving in Stereo by The Cars in Fast Times at Ridgemont High deserves to be in the conversation. Now you might say they could've used any song in that scene and it would've been great. And you'd be right. But they didn't and it's a fine song so I'm mentioning it.

I like that song a lot but I can't remember one movie or scene it was featured in.
