Come On Eileen by Dexy's Midnight Runners. It knocked Michael Jackson off the top of the singles charts for one week as Thriller was conquering the world. That alone qualifies it as GOAT one hit wonder for the 80s.

That's not even the best version of that song. Save Ferris does it a hundred times better.

Aha due to the strength of their smash hit also charted to #20 in Billboard 100 with the follow-up song 'The Sun Always Shines on TV' off album 'Hunting High & Low'..

It was an inspiration to Bono in writing U2's 'Beautiful Day'

This is often a mistake. If somebody has hit songs, it doesn't matter if they are minor hits or major hits. A lot of people figure if there is one song that has been anointed as a band's signature song then that qualifies as a "one hit wonder". Not so.

Love And Rockets also had "No New Tale To Tell" and "Ball Of Confusion". They were less successful than "So Alive" but it still excludes them from being in this category.

The real idea of a "one hit" band or artist is somebody who has only one song that made a splash as a single, and nothing else was noteworthy in any way. It kills me that people think of Thin Lizzy as a "OHW" because of "The Boys Are Back In Town". Thin Lizzy had a very rich and celebrated body of work; it's a complete misnomer to lump them in with the likes of Los Del Rio.
