I got into Failure recently when I started reading about their reunion. Where the hell was I when this album came out? They were never on MTV or the radio. Although I grunge was basically over by 1996.

"Live - Throwing Copper"

Very good call. This and the Hootie and the Blowfish album that was also mentioned are the main ones I can think of from the 90s.

Survivor - Their hits may have actually been on two albums but they had quite a few great songs from the years that Rocky 3 and 4 came out. You never heard of them making great songs after that.

they had 2 really solid albums. the one most people know about with 'drives me crazy' is not the better of the 2.

Just wanted to come into this thread and thank everyone who mentioned The Stone Roses. I had never heard of them. The first album is amazing and sounds very fresh, even 25 years later.

Is the rest of their stuff that bad?

Every song on that album is great. It's a shame their other albums never caught on.

I think Sixteen Stone by Bush is in the same basket as Throwing Copper, even though TC is a much better album. The Bush album doesn't hold up that great anymore.

Pretty much /thread

That album was a masterpiece and nothin they ever put out after that can touch it. They had a few other hits but not like that album. Nearly every song was awesome.

"Hardline According to Terence Trent Darby".

One of the best intro albums ever ,but Darby changes his name/sound & almost disappeared.

Bush had a bunch of albums, ok, maybe not great ones, but not putrid filth.

Their latest one "The Sea of Memories" is really very good. And I was never a Bush 'fan'.

Sixteen Stone stills holds up as a great album in my opinion. Razorblade Suitcase was also a pretty solid album with like 5-6 great songs. They definitely went down here from there with their next 2-3 followups; but in no way should their good name be besmirched in any one hit wonder thread

Live - Throwing Copper was a great choice as was Hootie.

Going back into the 80's, how about Tears For Fear - Songs from the Big Chair. They were big for a brief period of time.
