Swamp music is always a favorite during the spring, windows down, cold Abita in my lap with a sack of live crawfish heading to the house to boil.

Skynyrd has a pretty good catalogue - certainly comparable to even Zeppelin when it comes to singles over the productive period. A little something for everybody. So much attention in pop culture is paid to the 2 giant tracks, Freebird and Sweet Home Alabama (now, looking back, What's Your Name? was actually a higher charting single on the Hot 100 back in the day, but it did not have the staying power or legendary status of Freebird, particularly with longtime fans who attended their live shows), that it is difficult to name another song as their "best", although I have a soft spot for Simple Man, Tuesday's Gone and That Smell.

If I had to pick a "best" song it would be specifically the live version of Freebird in Oakland, at the height of their fame and just a few weeks before the band came literally crashing down:

Obviously not their best, but it is one of my favorites. It's off Collectybles and its a demo from the Shade Tree recordings.
