Michigan Seven Swans Illinois

That's a helluva run. I almost included Sufjan on my list, but I would have actually went Illinois, Age of Adz, Carrie and Lowell. Michigan through Carrie and Lowell is a pretty amazing 5 album stretch.

And that doesn't even include the X-mas albums, which are amazing as well.

How dare you put that Muse stretch in a post that will be downvoted (rightfully so) due to you including Marilyn Manson. For shame.

Michael Jackson:
Dangerous
HiStory
Invincible

All reached no. 1 worldwide, all contained top ten hits, all debuted at no. 1, all sold in excess of 10 million units, and all were recorded by the greatest music artist of all-time, what more evidence does one need to satisfy this criteria?

make it since 1985 instead of since 1990 and the easy winner is Sonic Youth:

Sister
Daydream Nation
Goo

Adore is criminally underrated. Can't go wrong with those three either.

Metallica, Load, Reload

Metallica fans were not very receptive to Load and Reload upon release (no pun intended). However, over time they have aged well. Maybe because St Anger sucked so bad.

Garage Inc and S&M were also very good.
