s still posting in this thread....if you had to chose one single LP to call your favorite, which one would it be?

Hmmmm...gotta think about that one for a bit.

Maybe The Moody Blues "Days of Future Passed"

Or

Belle & Sebastian "Tigermilk"

Those are 2 of my all time favorites and have been for years.

Ha, just the thought of answering that question makes my head spin.

I'm going to buy one of those and a record cleaning machine if I can keep myself from buying records for a couple of weeks.

I have the VPI 16.5 cleaner and it is well worth the investment...

The vacuum in this thing is pretty strong. It will get most of the grit out--I use the Mobile Fidelity enzyme cleaning solution and the Mobile Fidelity record rinse solution. For the really nasty ones, I use a $39 steam cleaner from Walgreen's.

I just noticed the 3-D "star"hologram embedded in the vinyl of the lead out grooves of the new Rush 2112 album!!

Pretty cool.

Bri, you reminded me of this album, so it's now on deck...

First LP is studio and second LP is live. There is a tune on the live LP, side 3, called "24 Hours at a Time" that is a frigging 13 minute jam!

The album's title is "Where We All Belong"...1974

Bri...before starting "24 Hours at a Time", they introduce a guest musician to play fiddle--Charlie Daniels, and also say it is off their new album--"A New Life"--the very one you are listening to!

You know, I think that's the only MTB album I don't have. Yeah, 24 Hours at a Time is a studio track on the album that I posted(the song playing now) Charlie Daniels does the fiddle work on it, and I'm pretty sure if that's the live version I'm thinking of, Charlie plays fiddle on it as well.

Ha, I was typing while you posted that. I thought so.

My favorite song from your album is "This Ol' Cowboy" I love this lyric.......

"So I don't want you to think

That you're the first one
To leave this ol' boy out here on his own
Cause this ain't gonna be the first time
This ol' cowboy spent the night alone
No this ain't gonna be the first time
This ol' cowboy spent the night alone"

I always knew a little bit about the MTB, like the greatest hits kinda stuff, while in my teens and twenties. Then about 7 or so years ago, I heard an album of theirs and said "sum bitch, this is good", and since then have discovered what this little band was capable of. One of their LPs is in rotation about every month here now.

...and this live LP is pretty damn good--pick it up and complete your collection!

And in the same vein, check out Elvin Bishop's "Hometown Boy Makes Good"--a great album with quite possibly the GOAT of album cover art--I framed it and it hangs in the audio room.

Yeah, my first concert(without the parents) was Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels and Hank Jr at Starwood in Nashville. I've always liked their stuff. Much like you, just had a greatest hits( actually it was one of those split CDs with them and CDB, if you remember those)

Anyway, gradually got more into them and I think they're one of the most underrated bands of all time.

I only have the Raisin' Hell and Let it Flow Elvin Bishop LPs. I'll add that one to the list.

You ever hear any Barefoot Jerry?

Barefoot Jerry

...some stuff, but not a lot. I probably need to pick up a couple of his LPs on my next trip to the record shops in L.A.

I usually come home with about 200 LPs every year when I go to Los Angeles. There are 3 record stores there that I regular that are phenomenal. One is Amoeba--good for new stuff and high end rare LPs, and the others just have a crapload of used LPs that are all in good condition, are alphabetized, have plastic covers, and are graded. They are also not overpriced like many record stores in other cities that are trying to cash in on the new found novelty of the new generation. The market in L.A. is a little different--many recordphiles--and the stores cater to them.

I hear you, I bought a bunch of CDB records from Amoeba. I only have one Barefoot LP. I was just curious if you had any. I don't think they ever got really big, so their records are a little tougher to find.

Their musicianship is great though. They were a bunch of Nashville session guys.

I've also made a couple treks to Amoeba in the Haight in S.F. and the one in Berkley. There is also another huge record store right next door to the Berkley Amoeba called Rasputin's...the last time I went to San Fran, it rained heavily for 3 straight days, so I spent most of my time there flipping through tens of thousands of LPs in Amoeba and Rasputin's!! I spent an a$$load on that trip

Oh goodness, I don't doubt it. Hell, there's a little record store a few minutes from my house and I can spent hours going through their "floor boxes" just looking for that diamond in the rough.

Yeah, snapped a picture of it a couple of weeks ago. Here it is (bottom left side). Spins while the LP is playing. Pretty neat.

Jack White's latest album Lazaretto has one as well but I haven't bothered to look for it yet.
