Where are you finding Ghost in the Shell LP?

My Kendrick Lamar album sounds really good. So does A Tribe Called Quest.

My new Ryan Adams Live at Carnegie Hall came in and it's solid. Wish he would release a live album with the full band.

I'm officially addicted, bros.
New albums:
Btw, I purchased a somewhat damaged Pet Sounds vinyl from a record store (it was like $4-5) and played decently. What's the best way to clean that bad boy up?

If you like those jazz albums you should look into Blue Train by Coltrane and Bitches Brew by Miles Davis

take your sub off your desk if you can

Should I put it on the floor? Or just not on the same platform as the turntable...

Just not on the same table as the TT. Can cause shaking which can mess with the sound

Shark,
Did you ever pull the trigger on some new headphones? If so what did you get and how do you like them? I reread Marco's recs earlier in this thread and I'm currently looking at a pair of Grado PS500.

By all means, move the sub off the board that the 'table is on!!!
You must isolate the 'table from any and all vibrations--the cartridge is a generator that picks up minute vibrations and sends them to the amp. It will pick up vibrations caused by the sub and amplify those as well. This is called reverberation and you will eventually get a nasty feedback rumble when you turn the volume up.
I honestly don't understand how that set up the way you have it isn't causing rumble and feedback galore now (it may be).

Thanks for the input. I've had that setup for only a couple of days and I haven't really blasted it yet. Will move asap.

Funky Tide 8,
I have posted this before, but I'll say it again because I believe the following advice to be one of the cheapest, yet most effective tweaks for any and every turntable below the $5000 mark (once you get above that price mark, turntables begin to get massive enough to self fix the issue)
...go to a local granite countertop supply house or stone yard (wherever they cut countertops of granite), and ask to look through their leftover/waste stash. Find a piece that is just larger than the base to your turntable (maybe allow 3" or so over on all 4 sides) and ask them to cut and finish it for you to your dimensions. It may cost $75-$100.
Place your turntable on top of the granite slab, and get Vibrapod Isolation Control dampers to place under the granite slab. They are only $6/ea.--you will need 4...so $24 total for the Vibrapods.
To find out which ones you will need (different ones support different weights), simply weigh the granite slab and turntable together and look at the chart in the link I posted.
For around $125, you will not only greatly improve the sound of the table by eliminating most of the spurious vibrations, but also give your turntable a nice boost in the looks department. It really adds a bit of class when a piece of audio gear sits atop a beautiful granite slab.
I have done this a couple times in the past (once for a VPI Scoutmaster 'table and once for a ProJect Debut 3 'table) and have been amazed at the results both times.

What you're hearing is dust in the grooves. You can buy a cleaner or just use a sponge in warm water with a tiny drop of soap. With the damp sponge, just go around the record and follow the grooves. After that rinse it well, then dry with a soft cloth or paper towel.
You're the man
Sharks, will definitely check those albums out. Just ordered some Stan Getz -- pretty pumped.
And after tinkering with the audio technica 120 I decided to send the thing back. Too many skips and the sound quality wasn't that great. Ended up buying a Project Carbon DC for $370 (basically brand new) from a reputable dealer. $370 and no tax = couldn't pass it up.
So pumped

Rescued these out of my parents garage. Nikko and two KLH speakers. Speakers still sound great. Wood needs restoration. Receiver has a light out that I'm going to fix, but overall souls find.

Sweet! I love vintage stuff. Stuff back then was made with much better materials and components.

I really think the old wood gives the best sound.
I've got 3 pairs of Grado's. PS-500, SR-225, and RS-2s. They're all good, but the wood on the RS2's is otherworldly.
