I hear this from a few people every so often. Those people are mistaken.

That's the first I've heard the Corey Taylor version. It IS really cool, and I can see that if the first time you heard it, it was that version, then you might think it better.

When you think about it, it's always unfair to the original when folks hear the newer version first and come to like that one.

But no. Isaak better. When it came out it was sort of dreamy, bluesy, and different. Taylor's is great, but just note for note the same and acoustic.

Just my opinion, I much rather Corey Taylor's voice. Not really into the sound of Chris Isaak. Never said he wasn't good.

In my experience, it seems like the one that I knew first is the one that is "better" in most cases.

Definite exceptions to this rule are Linda Ronstadt's uptempo numbers, especially her Zevon covers. I actually hated the song "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" until I heard the original.

And I never liked "Wild Horses" until I finally heard the Burritos (whether it's the "original" we can debate later). I can't believe some people prefer the Stones' version.

I think Bruce's version of Because The Night is better than Patti Smith's... but he wrote it, however the recorded version was only released a few years ago... 30 years or so after Patti's

There She Goes is one. I had no idea the La's even existed when I first heard the song. Now, it's one of my favorite songs. Their's that is.

Probably because its the "definitive" version and most havent heard the Burritos...

I agree on the better version, but I dont hate the Stones version..
