and 2) what concert did you want to go to that was really bad

Me -

1) Tina Turner Private Dancer Tour - really, really good great lights, great sound, great band, lights out show

2) Mahogany Rush - overbearing guitar wall of sound, vocals really bad, lights and sound were average, average rhythm section at best

Dirks Bently early 2000's Beaumont Texas.

For the record I'm not a Drik's fan but had a damn good time!

Reo Speedwagon Scottsdale block party 01-03.
Big Dog jam Beaumont Texas Union Uderground that's back when Nu Metal was at its peak in 2000 or 2001.

Band of Horses SXSW 2010 or so. Maybe 2011. I was a casual fan, but the show at Stubbs was awesome!

Hell, it's Frank Marino after all. One of the baddest rock guitarists of all time and the inventor of the ten minute guitar solo in every song.

Really? Wow. Harwood and Ayoub were amazing musicians.

Was this a recent concert, or one in the 70's/80's? Just curious. Kinda surprised by this choice, but hell, I wasn't there. Just wondering.

Kid Rock. Got tix from work and really didn't care to go, not that I was against it.....one of the best live performances I have seen.

HBO aired a show from that tour. I remember actually liking it even as an 80's skate punk kid. Lost Boys saxophone guy was in her support band.

1. Ben Folds Five - was a tag along with a couple who invited me. I was mad at myself for never giving them a chance in the 90's. This was ~2000.

2. Smashing Pumpkins 1994 Lollapalooza. Then again, they got blown off the stage by the Beastie Boys who opened up for them.

I understand believe me, that is why I went. But it was completely unbalanced. He could have come out and played a 2 hour solo to the same effect.

Late 70s at the Fox in Atlanta.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones, 2000 Warped Tour

Didn't care for the band, but they blew everyone else out of the water. They were a lot of fun and had crazy energy. Green Day was headlining and skipped that date -- I remember Dickie Barrett shite talking them on stage and saying "frick Green Day."

It was in Panama City and crazy hot; people passing out left and right. A friend and I were really young and were right in front. We had fat guys with tattoos all around us and we're moshing with them -- they'd knock us the frick down and immediately help us up. Still the funnest show I've ever been to.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones at 5 Points Music Hall in Birmingham right before they blew up for the short period of time that they did. One of the funnest times I have had at a show.

Beth Hart at 5 Points Music Hall as well right after her second album, Singing for My Supper, came out. Wasn't really familiar with her and went and was blown away. One of the best voices in music history.

Chevelle, Sevendust, and 10 Years opening up for Shinedown in 2010. All 3 bands were better than Shinedown. I walked out about 10 minutes into Shinedown. Saw something during the Chevelle part of the show I have never seen happen live before; the bass player snapped his E string.

John Cougar Mellencamp. Early 90s, I think.

A friend I'd just met told me I should be more pumped to see Dash Rip Rock at the Chimes in September of 1986 than my R.E.M. ticket. Checked them out and was an instant fan.

1. Bruce Springsteen - I wouldn't say I didn't want to go, but I didn't try for tickets. Friend ended up with an extra when his wife woke up sick the day of the show. WEnt and had a blast. Still not crazy about most of his music, but he's a great entertainer.

2. Pearl Jam around 2003 or 2004. It was the 4th or 5th time I'd seen them, and all the others were great. It was an outdoor show on an unseasonably cold(mid 40's and windy) April night, and they and the crowd just wanted to get it over with and get somewhere warm. Only played for about an hour. Eddie was apologetic at least. McCready said he couldn't feel his fingers.

I still don't like them, but I had to go 13 years ago when I worked in radio. I was surprised how good they were live. Yes I am embarrassed to admit this

1): Page and Plant tour mid 1990's. It was on a Monday night and didn't want to go but had a free ticket. It was just Page, Plant, a Bonzo style drummer, and bass player and that was it. They fricking killed...stripped down old Zeppelin and blues numbers....they were unbelievable and I can only imagine what Led Zeppelin must have been like.

2): Grateful Dead: Spring Tour 1995. I hadn't seen the Dead in about 3-4 years so when they did that southern swing I was pumped for it. It was horrible. Just awful. Garcia looked like a ghost. Music was shite totally uninspired. Crowds were awful. The whole thing just sucked and of course a few months later it was all over. I remember thinking they should retire.

Peter Gabriel. Went with a friend, but I'm not a big Gabriel fan. Holy crap, it was the best arena show I've ever seen. It was like a Broadway show.

It was very cold yes, but they still played a 2 hour set. It might have been a bit shorter than the other ones on the tour, but not much. Not sure where you got an hour from

Setlist here

And I'll agree with the GnR comment, amazing show on Sunday night

1a. U2 at Legion Field in Birmingham in 1992. Wasn't a big fan prior to the show, but became a fan afterward. Amazing concert.

1b. Harry Connick Jr. at the BJCC this year. Reluctantly took my wife and was amazed. Not my taste, but had a great time! He's a very talented performer and put on a wonderful show.

2. Havent really been to one that was bad music/performance-wise. Been to some where the venue was bad, but not the concert.
