Is such a great movie and along with The Orphanage - two of the best ghost story movies ever.

Probably Jaws, but in the last 10 years or so, Sinister really kinda freaked me out. The sequel is stupid, but the original is pretty good.

The Witch.

Honorable mention: Not the movie as a whole, but in 'The Mothman Prophecies' the first time Gere's character gets a call from Indrid Cold I always get goosebumps.

You know one that I'm going to say deserves a mention in this thread: Hostel. The movie itself wasn't terrifying, it's more slasher porn than suspense/horror but you could not pay me enough to to stay in a European hostel after that movie came out.

Also, Scream. I saw it when it came out on VHS. I was 8 and a buddy of mine had stolen the VHS from his sister. It terrified the frick out of me. I was scared of windows and backdoors for years after it came out. But as an adult I absolutely love it. One of my favorite.

Ditto. I believe the country it portrayed was very upset with the movie.

Seriously?

I'd say The Strangers. Out of everything name here, that could happen. Legitimately could happen to someone. Folks off their damned psychopathic frickers could break into your home and torture you. "Because you were home."

No, it's not scary. I just like the NOLA references.
As a kid I remember being terrified of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
I like more psychological thrillers than straight horror/scary. What Lies Beneath and The Number 23 are pretty good imo.

Agreed. I can't handle that much devil and satanic shite. Its the catholic guilt ingrained in me but I can't watch it.

As a lifelong southerner, I have a hard believing anyone would go to a house out in the middle of the woods completely unarmed. These home invasion movies are completely unrealistic to me for that reason.
