I'm still amazed that there are people who don't know what a torrent is.
I just had to Google what that is

I'm a lot like you in that I also love the physical, tangible aspect of DVDs and the such. However, I also embrace technoligical advances as well, just not as much as some do.
For example, I somewhat "collect" movies and own about 1,500 movies in tangible form (VHS, DVDs, etc.), but also have used torrents before, stream movies still in theaters, as well as recently getting into Netflix somewhat.
Now, for movies that I like, and want own, I will still buy the DVDs. But things like torrents and streaming allow me to watch movies faster than waiting for DVDs (and in some cases while the movie is still in theaters), but if I really like them I will eventually buy a hard copy of them. Also, things like Netflix allow me to watch what I'd call "marginal" movies...movies that I don't really know if I'd like enough to want to purchase/own, or movies that I wouldn't really normally have watched (because I didn't buy them), but will watch given their availability on things like Netflix.
So I guess I'm sort of a hybrid of both types, leaning a little more on the old-fashioned side in that I still like having physical, hard copies of movies/shows that I like.

Redbox or Netflix or On Demand... hardly ever buy DVDs anymore. Rarely go to the movies either.
I might have a bunch of DVDs to sell (for cheap) soon, want them Cocomo?
I still buy CDs and records for albums I really like, but I got away from that for movies for some reason.

Depends on just how cheap (and what you have), but probably.

Owning DVDs is just the worst for me
1) total waste of space. Especially if you have a lot of them
2) once I own a movie on DVD, I'll never watch it again. Could be my favorite movie of all time, but something about "always being able to watch it" makes me never want to watch it. Waste of 20 bucks there

A lot of what I will have will depend on what fits (and doesn't fit) at the new house... but they will be cheap. If not just a donation to the collection.

I stopped buying discs about 8 months ago. Now I use Amazon Instant Video and Netflix.

1) I use DVD cases (essentially big binders where you can store lots of DVDs) and keep the original packaging in boxes in storage. Cuts down on the clutter factor and you can store hundreds in a relatively small space.
2) I do rewatch on occasion, but, yeah, waste of money if you're not the sort to do that.

Just curious, but why keep the original packaging? In case you want to sell them?
