My wife has been teasing me this evening about my obstinate insistence on owning DVDs/Blu Rays. I just don't trust digital media, torrents, and streaming (and, yes, I know that DVDs/Blu Rays are technically digital, but you know what I mean.) I'll watch On Demand and DVRed stuff, but if I want a movie or show, I still buy the DVDs and Blu Rays. In other words, I'm a small-town boy who likes to own tangible objects that aren't subject to the whims of cyberspace, Internet connections, and hard drive crashes. She, on the other hand, is a big city girl who embraces the future, dotes on her broadband, knows what the hell a 'torrent' is, and trusts the cloud. So I'm curious about what people here think. How do y'all generally watch movies and TV shows, how do you prefer to store them if you want to own them, and, just for reference, what general age range do you fall into?

(I may be a hypocrite, incidentally, because I have no problem with keeping my music in my phone/computer. I haven't bought a hard-copy form of music in a couple years and that was an LP pressed by a band a friend of mine plays bass for.)

Yeah, I was just thinking that I failed to state the stupidly obvious for people who need such things stated, but then I saw you came through in the pinch. So thanks for your contribution.

I'm still amazed that there are people who don't know what a torrent is.

It's like the last decade or so just never happened to them.

I watch five minutes, get distracted by something else, and forget to go back to it.

I used to torrent movies and tv all the time but got wary of it. I have a nice collection of hammer horror because of it, though.

I rarely buy movies anymore. I used to be kind of a collector but lost the passion and money for it. When I actually do watch a new movie, it's through Amazon.

I rent from my xbox from stuff like Vudu.

Or I use Netflix/HBO GO. If I REALLY like the movie, then I'll purchase a hard copy.

That was a lot of text to say you like to have dvds.

I stream pretty much all of my content. Random Redbox movies here and there, though.

The best feeling in the world as a movie fan... Walking into the theater and seeing that it's completely empty.

I like having something physical too but digital content makes it easier for those who can't walk to change shows/movies on the fly. This is much easier than having to get up and change out the disk every time. Digital content is very useful for those who have limited movement/mobility and gives them major independence to watch what they want, when they want it.

I'm done with buying DVDs and BlueRay. We'll get another format change and I'm not replacing my movie library for the third time.

Between Netflix and Amazon we get everything that we need.
