the last 15 minutes ruined the entire series for me.

I almost don't believe you. I'm not saying you're lying, but nt liking the ending is one thing, but no way the final minutes could honestly ruin the 6 full seasons that came before it.

So now it's the final season instead of the last 15 minutes?

And the last season was odd, I'll give you that. But I still enjoyed it (I can see why some don't though).

But was it bad enough that it made you go back and retroactively dislike the previous five seasons? Did you suddenly unenjoy them?

I actually like the final season better then the 5th season before it.
The flash sideways was awesome and interesting.

My favorite finale is the one for According to Jim. Granted, I've never seen the episode, just knowing they weren't making any more of them is a comforting thought.

M*A*S*H

I remember watching it as a kid. Very powerful.

Scrubs.

Chuck. - I know i'm in the minority on this one, but I loved how they wrapped it up the way it began.

House. The whole last season he just threw up the middle finger.

Fringe

In these threads, I always see this show the most. I watched the 1st season way back when it started, but didn't finish. Can't remember exactly why anymore. Anyway, would I need to watch the whole series to really enjoy the series finale, or could I watch last season?

I don't think you can appreciate the finale without watching the entire series and getting to know the characters and seeing their highs and lows.

The series can be a challenge at times because it's so depressing and the characters can be so UNlikeable....but that's the point. But the final season is the best...and more importantly, the final episode and final scene.

If you enjoy other HBO hits like The Wire, The Sopranos, Deadwood, etc. you should DEFINITELY watch Six Feet Under. It's a true masterpiece that doesn't receive enough love on the message boards.

The gold standard for a series ending IMHO.

Fresh Prince. I thought this was a very well-done finale for a sitcom. Very funny and heartwarming at the same time. Was pretty awesome seeing that Will finally had that strong father figure he always wanted/needed. Uncle Phil telling him "I don't care what anybody says...you are my son." is just pure fricking awesomeness

Yeah, this was the first one that came to mind for me. Was one of my favorite shows as a teen and I watched the finale very satisfied.

I'm going with a technicality and saying Chuck season 1 finale and season 2 finale since both weren't scheduled to be brought back so both were series finales at the time. I really liked the season 5 finale too after the second watch, hated it the first time.

I will say one that no one has mentioned yet too and go with Merlin as the best series finale. They didn't sell it out at all and did what they wanted to do with it and it was brilliantly done.

Scrubs was really good.

I personally liked Battlestar Galactica even though the final season wasn't my favorite.

The final montage of Baltimore in The Wire was amazing.

Agreed. The final season was a little worse than the others, but that final montage was so awesome. They do it every season but that one gave me chills. I was so sad that it was over.

My actual answer for my favorite is The Sopranos. I know there is some debate over this finale but I absolutely loved it. You are feeling so happy to see the family come together and for everything to seemingly be alright, but there is still so much tension and in the end shock. Bonus points for "Don't stop Believing"

Reply to your Wonder Years. Late one night my son and I were watching TV. The finale of Wonder Years started and was followed by the very first episode. It was a really cool and backwards way of showing my son a show I used to enjoy.

Agree 100%. It's my favorite show of all time. Me and my wife are watching for the first time in about five years. It's better now than it was watching it in the early 2000's.

My favorites have been mentioned (Scrubs, Boy Meets World, Fresh Prince), but I wanted to say that Seinfeld's finale has grown on me over the years. I know a lot of people like to hate on it, but the more I thought about it the more it makes sense.

When you think of sitcoms, they almost always end a bit sad and depressing, yet often still heart-warming, endearing. Seinfeld was never going to be a show like that, and the ending actually makes sense to me now more than it did years ago.
