I've tried to watch The Wolverine at least 4 times but I keep getting disinterested and end up changing the channel.

The Wolverine should've been better. Instead of a corny movie where he fights a samurai robot, we should've gotten a movie like Logan except with Wolverine in his prime. It could still be in Japan, bc in the comics he did have a live interest there.

Love that movie. That is actually in reference to nimrod in the bible who tried to kill god by shooting arrows straight in the sky

Watching right now but the most annoying parts so far:
1. Communist East Berlin has some kind of underground mutant fighting circuit? Please, the gov't would have never allowed that and sought to control and militarize the mutants;
2. Magneto is a steel worker in Communist Poland and has a nice country house w/ grounds and reindeer? Please. He would be living in a ghetto apartment w/ no money.

Interesting. In the comics, Nimrod was the name of a highly advanced Sentinel robot who hunted mutants down in different timelines.

So why work in a steel factory in communist Poland?
The story of Logan living as a lumberjack and not using his powers made a lot more sense. This part made 0 sense.

Love Quicksilver.
Yeah, Evan Peters stole the show. I hope he's done putting out crap with Ryan Murphy.

I have to add:
Fox Quicksilver >>> MCU Quicksilver

ive enjoyed all the xmen movies except X3 (though DOFP was very meh), but Apocalypse was bad. Watched it on the plane back from London last week and was very disappointed.
spent too little time with too many characters to where you didn't give a shite about anyone. Love Isaac but he didnt work as Apocalypse. you pretty much need a giant CGI Apocalypse with a badass voice, not what we got. None of the non-Magneto Horsemen were interesting (they have a combined like 15 lines) and it's the same old bullshite with Magneto's storyline.
you keep waiting for the movie to pick up and it never does. the climax is very lame too. the ham-fisted shoving of JLaw down our throats is awful as well. mystique is fricking worthless but they have to bump her role up because shes famous. just dont cast her.
Agreed with most of this.
The movie just felt off and thrown together.
might have been better served to have professor x be under some form of control forcing Magneto to lead the X-Men against Apocalypse, that would have been a better redemption story

It was a weird interpretation of the character (not Isaac's fault) that didn't really match the comic book version. He was an ok villain in the film, but that's just not Apocalypse at all.
My biggest problem with the film was that the finale reminded me of something out of Fantastic Four (2014). I don't mean that to say that X-Men is anywhere near as flawed as that film, but there were no stakes in the finale. You saw some CGI description of random, nondescript cities, but you never saw any people or any real, ground level chaos.

Yes. The only decent Apocalypse was in the dream sequence. His powers were too uneven and undefined. His henchmen were pointless and lame, although I realize that stems from the comics.

I think a lot of that had to do with having such an all powerful villain. The plot is predictable since we know the only way to stop him is to have Magneto swap sides or Jean go nuts in order to stop him.
Side note: If Apocalypse is most vulnerable when he is switching bodies, wouldn't he do it in secrecy instead of with the assistance of slave humans and letting his four horseman watch trapped inside of a pyramid? I know, it's a movie and it's cool we get to see the pyramid self-destruct but still.

Right. He demonstrated an ability to kill people instantly just by wishing them dead. Everything he does after that looks like he's holding back for the sake of the plot.

really you didn't even get a sense of how powerful he was, he just kind of walked around talking like a douche. Magneto was responsible for most of the destruction, granted that was due to Apocalypse enhancing his powers. They just kind of talked about how powerful he was.
also setting it in the 80s was dumb and added nothing to the plot except frick up your timeline even further. Singer just seemed to want to do it for cool set pieces

Magneto just spent like 10% of the movie just wrecking the world and probably killing millions but I guess everyone was cool with that since he is hanging out at the school at the end smiling and being friendly.
Exactly
