What upsets me about Family Matters is that they never went to visit the Perfect Strangers guys after they made it big.

Balki and cousin Larry could have been great cameo guests.

Not even close. The last season on CBS seems like it was written by an 8 yr old.

replacing Jo Marie Payton (Harriette Winslow), who was the whole reason they created Family Matters in the first place, was total bullshite.

Same reason Archie Bunker never showed up on Good Times. Balki and Larry were insane racists.

Urkel was so good he caused the youngest daughter to disappear.

I thought it was common knowledge that she was sold into sex slavery and the Winslows decided to act like it never happened.

Someone had to pay for those home damage repairs. Didn't Urkel take out their entire roof once? That had to been close to 10k.

Everyone's grandparents back then would tune in to Urkel. It wasn't called Family Matters to them, it was Urkel.

Stefan Urquelle also happened.

I was in Germany in the mid 90s. Try Urkel in a dubbed, high pitched German accent.

No this is completely wrong. You can watch family matters now and enjoy it just as much as you did in the 90s

It was something special those last seasons, seeing 6'4" grown arse man Urkel trying to act like a nerdy little kid

I think this show is the weirdest mainstream sitcom ever.

Just bizarre.

After the second season, the network should have just changed the name of the show to "URKEL".

That was the only reason anyone was watching.

Same thing with Good Times. Heck, we didnt even call it 'Good Times' when we were kids- we called it "JJ" or "THe JJ Show".

even though I was just a kid when TGIF was in its prime I was still thinking "WTF is this shite and why do I keep watching?" for the majority of those shows.

Same thing for Saved By the Bell. Even as a kid I knew Zack and company were huge namby pamby dorks that were trapped in overdone hyperbole.

I dunno. Its probably b/c I grew up watching classic shows on Nick at Nite like Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Dick Van Dyke, I Love Lucy, and Mary Tyler Moore that I never did fully jive w/the mostly sanitized version of the world TGIF-esque shows lived in.

I mean shite, when a sitcom that had a real life husband and wife sleeping in separate beds b/c of decency concerns has a more realistic portrayal of the world than a show made 30-40 years later...

I'm calling BS. given that it had one of the most memorable theme songs ever, how could you call anything other than Good Times?
