the terrible part of JA is that it seals the fate of expensive, original movies for a bit most likely
studios don't want to take these sorts of risks and this is almost a self fulfilling prophecy

Our only hope for originality is in thinky independent films. And Pixar. We'll always have Pixar.

I'm more fascinated how they're both trannies...I need to hear about their childhood so I don't make any frick ups with the future mulder Jr.

One of them became a shemale years before the other one. She/he is actually an extra in the Matrix sequels. "Lilly" didn't board the crazy train until fairly recently.

Pretty much humanity is a harvest planet. We're just there to be farmed. Humanity is also ruled by a royal family, one of the family member owns Earth.
Pretty much big buisness in space!

I loved Speed Racer in IMAX. That is my contribution to this thread.

Speed racer?

It was no masterpiece but it entertained me one afternoon. No urge to see it again.

There are good bad movies and there are bad bad movies. I put it in the former. I think 15 years from now, this is viewed as a Cocktail/The Room type film that will gain a joking cult status. It's a beautiful film to look at and I chuckled about a dozen times. One of them was actually intentional (the long shitty fight scene in the city ending with the car alarm going off received a sensible chuckle).
I do agree that it hurt big budget original sci-fi movies for a while, though. Unfortunately, I think Edge of Tomorrow's box office did the same even though it was fantastic.

Watched it last night. A truly awful movie.

I've actually been wanting to see it merely because of how awful it has been reported.
I just can't make myself spend the money on it.

I feel like the only person who genuinely enjoyed the movie. I mean, it's batshit insane, but I LIKE batshit insane. They really go for it. It's a completely unique property, which people say they want, and the action sequences are truly spectacular. Love the cinematography in the movie, and I also like the costuming. I mean, some plot points only exist to put Mila Knuis is a new outfit.
The Bleak House in space sequence as she navigates the bureaucracy is super fun (though it calls back Brazil, so maybe the Wazchowskis have never read Dickens). And I enjoyed the family scheming against itself.
Now, is the film completely incoherent? Mostly, yeah. Are the politics ridiculous? Yup. But it's fun. I don't think JA is a great movie by any means, but it is at least an interesting failure. I'd rather a film aspire to greatness and fail then reach for mediocrity and achieve it. And the movie is emminently rewatchable in its looniness and overacting. It's the Mommy Dearest of space operas.

Watched this movie last night and couldn't agree more with the OP. Mila Kunis' looks couldn't even save this movie. Stupid plot, stupid acting. Still trying to figure out why the main villain talked like a little bi*** all movie long. Why you whispering baw, speak up! Wasted 2 hours of my night on this. Thanks HBO.

Way worse, IMO. I actually watched that one a second time.
But okay, with all the other crap surrounding this movie, SHE'S THE QUEEN OF THE EARTH/GALAXY AND SHE'S STILL SCRUBBING TOILETS AT THE END!!!!!
Ok...calm down...
