Or a married man to go watch a Harry potter matinee? My wife doesn't care to go, but I want to finish the series.

hold up, change that to married boy since you need the opinion of a message board to affirm or negate your life choices.

if you want to go see it, do it. Definitely go to the matinee, though

You shouldn't give a damn what anyone attending the movie thinks about you being alone. If you want to go see the flick, go see it and have a great time.

I didn't know if it was considered a kids movie to be honest. I would expect not Thoth since it has mature content

While I certainly understand your concern given a portion of the audience is likely to be kids and the cynicism of today's world, you shouldn't feel self conscience in the least. Have fun.

I've never understood the seeing a movie alone stigma. I have different tastes than my friends so the only way to see some movies is alone.

Also, I prefer to see movie without some of my chatty question asking friends.

I go to movies all the time by myself. It's fun.

The hell with everybody else. Nobody notices me (or you) anyway.

I would assume you are a creepy child molester and tell the usher to keep an eye on you.

just went to see this movie today and saw a quite a few people in the theater (of both sexes) by themselves and really didn't think much about it, except to note it. When I was younger, I never would have considered going to a movie by myself (it just never entered into my consciousness that this was done). Now, I look forward to it. I still enjoy going out with friends/family at times, but I enjoy going to movies by myself more than I ever would have thought possible.

FYI, I saw hardly any young people (school-aged) in the 12:30 showing. They must all be sleeping in since it's summer...

Depends on how much you give a rats arse about what other people think.

On the other hand, yes, yes it would be weird. Just kidnap a child for one night and you don't have to worry about any awkward looks.
