Maybe it was the delivery?

Maybe it's because I feel like Dany has no real right to demand that of Jon?

It is a line that make sense coming from Cersei, not Dany. They have built Dany to be his god like Savior to the world, not this dictator.

I thought it made perfect sense. She wants to rule the seven kingdoms (although she seems to have forgotten giving the Iron Islands up). Right now, he claims to be king of two of those seven.

i mean let's be clear. Dany has not stepped foot in Westeros for like 20 years and shows up with a foreign army

she has no knowledge of Westeros, let alone experience or social networking in Westeros. she's basically telling a bastard who kept the North together after the terrible Bolton/Frey insurrection (as agents of the Lannisters) put it at risk. she doesn't know Jon Snow or if he even wants to be "King of the North". she's met one person from the North in her life (Jorah Mormont). this also completely invalidates her "we're not going to rule the ashes" bullshite when she's egging on direct conflict/war with the entire North. it's just ridiculous

if the point of the scene was to make Dany look like an ignorant, stupid, and arrogant a-hole, then they succeeded. that's obviously not what "girl power" D/D are doing, though.

You're reaching so much. You may as well say she shouldn't have even come to Westeros.

Forgive me, for I have not read the books, but this only shows Dany for who she is. Yeah, she has grown, but she is still naive and still thinks she is entitled to something she has not earned or even fully understand.

Think of her arrogance before the gates of Qarth.

she also admitted last season that the best way to rule Westeros would be to marry the right person

I would think a wildly popular King of the North would be a prime candidate, so immediately demanding him to "bend the knee" would be a complete lack situational awareness

But that's Dany. Irrational, hotheaded, would rather leap than look before she does so. She isn't exactly a forward thinker.

There is no moral contradiction if she believes she is truly the rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. Yes, she has a big heart, but she also is entitled (see her before the gates of Qarth) and has shown to be irrational (the murdering of the nobles, creating social unrest in Mereen).

What she did is in total line with her character, a character which has flaws.

I'm not arguing that it goes against her character

I'm just arguing that it's cringeworthy

I find her character to be insufferable. My wife loves her. Still, I still think the episode was rather well done. All I'm rooting for is for her to die somehow.

She's not trying to simply unite the Kingdoms, she's trying to rule them as Queen in her own right. She's not going to marry someone unless he acknowledges her as being the Queen. Her expectation of Jon is that he swears fealty to her.
