Disagree. JP did a great job as an actor, but the portrayal in the film of the real Cash was not spot on.

But let me say in reference to the thread title, Worst casting in a major movie, JP probably doesn't belong. It was not the greatest, but surely wasn't the worst. Not to the extent of Glen Campbell in True Grit at all.

Maggie G in The Dark Knight is by far the correct answer.

No she isn't. She may not be an OT 10 by any means, but this site acts like she's Sarah Jessica Parker or something, when I bet all of you would frick her given the chance. She was supposed to come off as intelligent and spunky, and I think she more or less pulled that off. Sometimes there's more to a character than how bangable she is off looks alone. A miscasting should have more than simply looks accounted for. Just a complete misdirection of the character I think is the big thing that is required. I can name about 30 worse miscastings on the top of my head.

And yeah, this goes for the whole damn cast, but particularly towards Jackson Rathbourne as Sokka and Aasif Mandvi as Zhao in The Last Airbender.

I am by no means a Maggie G fan at all. I think Jake is better looking than Maggie fwiw, but I think she did a decent job as an actor to help make up for her shortcomings in the looks dept.

I think Coppola's family is winning and I'm not talking about his nephew that changed his name.

Someone earlier stated that it wasn't really his fault though as the initial actress bailed at the 11th hour, and there was no one around to take the part in that age range. ?? Don't know if it's true, but if it is, I think we have to take that into consideration.

Rayden in Mortal Combat. He's supposed to be a warlike god who fights just for fun but in the movie he was an old guy who didn't fight and more of a benevolent mentor. Whoever played Rayden sucked it up.

Mortal Kombat, with a K, get it right.

And which one? In the first movie it was the Highlander that played him. In the second it was Dexter's dad.

And Maggie G would be a lot hotter probably if she was an actress in the 20's or 30's. She has the same look to me as what one of those dames used to have.

Yep. Maggie G was not good in that role. She is the love interest of a billionaire, at least make her objectively attractive in some way

Sadly that is a completely different conversation than "was she good looking enough for this role?"

No. No. No.

Maggie G. in TDK was miscast. Ryan Reynolds in The Green Lantern was miscast.

Hayden Christensen and Sophia Coppola just couldn't act.

Keaton was really annoying in the Godfathers.

Kristen Stewart is perfect for Bella. If you read the books you would know that she is one of the lamest girls ever to walk the planet.

I'm going to add Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. I know some of you think she is hot, and yes she is fit and female and in her early 20's, so she is going to be attractive.

But she can't hold a candle to Rebecca Romijn.

It is 100% true. Winona Ryder backed out of the role the day before she was to begin shooting. Coppola had no other choice but to cast his daughter in the role. She eventually made up for her poor performance with the movie Lost in Translation.

om cruise in the Jack Reacher movie coming out.... Dude is like 6'5" in the books and people always start fights with him because of his size...... How can they change that much of a character and expect fans of the series to buy tickets???

fricking this. I have only read the first 3 or 4 Reacher novels, but it doesn't take 5 pages to realize he is a 6'5", ripped 250lb monster of an ex-MP who is so physically imposing he can intimidate almost anyone into compliance just by giving them the stink eye.

I am hard pressed to think of another fictional character whose physical appearance, intimidating presence, and size/strength is so vital to who the character is.

Fast-forward to the upcoming movie........

Tom...fricking...Cruise as Jack Reacher.
