Why did you quote everything but the last line?

And honestly, The Hunger Games did more for the popularity of women heroes than anything. I know that character is not a "superhero" per say, but she is a powerful female lead in fictional literature. Essentially this is just the first female hero lead in the comic universe era. Which is cool, but it means nothing to me unless the movie is good.

Yea, I think most agree (as I have many times) that the DC property is a cash cow and has record breaking potential.

Whats more important about this movie is that it's good and well received. By both critics and fans.

Nah, nah, nah... I'm calling you out on this one.

When you take someone's summation:
quote:

Bottom line: When the embargo for full reviews lifts, watch the percentages of sentiment shift. But Wonder Woman will be a big hit.

and cut it to:
quote:

Bottom line: When the embargo for full reviews lifts, watch the percentages of sentiment shift.
you're editing quotes to make your point.

I took it as him saying "it will be a hit" as in it will make money. He wasn't talking about the overall reception.

BvS has an RT score of 28%
Suicide Squad is at 25%
Man of Steel has a 55%

Who here thinks that Wonder Woman will be that low?

I was going to list Catniss, Hermione, etc., but thought that was going to far. But yeah, all proof of why that line is really not relevant.

Of course it can be better than MoS, we have no idea. But this is why it's POSSIBLE, not certain, that the "revolutionary line" might predict problems. If the film represents this or it becomes the way to think about it, assessing it or it's scores will just be messy. If you dislike the film do you hate women superheroes? Do you hate equality? Will people be pressure to support it? Is the movie so good that none of this matters?

Just look at the last page of comments.

I find that I've become numb to it. I'll poke fun at some of them here and there but mostly it doesn't get to me.

In 10 year old Murray's wildest dreams, he never thought he'd see all of the characters he loved, plus some, dominate so much of pop culture.

Sure I'm still waiting for Nightwing and the Legion to get some love. I'd kill for a depiction of Cyclops that lives up to the one I read about but, at this point, a few dud film's here and there don't matter.

It's all bonus time for me.

Yep. An amazing time for a comics fan. The two films I am most excited about are Wonder Woman and Black Panther, with Justice League and Aquaman right behind. To think that we'll get a cinematic glimpse into Themyscira and Wakanda within a year- didn't think it would ever happen.

Exactly. All the sudden a bad film (if it is) becomes unassailable while on the flip side a good film (if it is) no longer stands on its merits. In either case, it's a stupid fricking comment made to pander to a particular audience of readers who will lap it up like catnip (SJWs) or choke on it (anti-SJWs). It takes the conversation away from the film and puts it on bullshite; namely, the portrayal of women in film (all while discounting the myriad examples of women leads in films before this that were high quality, big budget action films).
