Zelda, maybe.

Metroid? Kind of a bastard stepchild to Nintendo by comparison because it is big in the US but wasn’t nearly as big a deal in Japan.

I think you’re more likely to see more Mario movies. Then maybe Zelda.

Metroid would be better as a horror movie anyway.

Pixar, like all of Disney, wants to push a message and identity politics. People are sick of that garbage.

You say that when Disney just had the highest grossing movie in years. If Disney didn't understand what people wanted to see, Avatar 2 wouldn't have grossed $2.3 billion.

Even Black Panther 2 grossed $859 million.

I'm hoping for a HBO Zelda series more so than a movie.

This. It would be hard to flesh out that world in an hour and a half. Unless they would go for a trilogy.

Also, it's gotta be live action. Mario works with illuminations style for obvious reasons, but Zelda would need the atmosphere in real life.

This movie was announced in near conjunction with the announced opening of Mario World at Universal Florida (Which is where Illumination execs met Nintendo execs to come up with the idea for this film). When that was announced I said that they can capitalize on Disney and Pixar’s missteps by making true fan films. We’re about to see that take place. Nintendo (Japan) has no intention of following Disney’s footsteps. In fact I imagine they will not tolerate it. They are very tight and selective with their IP.

I think you can connect some of the success to all of the woke garbage being pushed in other nerd genre of films. People who are tired of being lectured in movies that are supposed to be fun and light hearted finally get what they want in a movie after about 3 years of “force is female” being shoved down their throat

I really would love an Earthbound movie or, better yet, a series.

The one idea I'm kind of surprised Nintendo is not doing is creating their own theme park(s). I know Universal got the IP but imagine an park with Mario, Kirby, DK, Pokemon, Metroid, Castlevania, Earthbound, Zelda. Would be amazing.

Would love to see Luigi’s mansion and more of the bros. Star Fox could be a fun live action movie like sonic

Having seen both avatar 2 and super Mario. Avatar 2 was a long drawn out turd and my kids agree. As we were walking into Mario this afternoon my 5 year old asked me “is this gonna be a long movie like avatar”?

If that's the case, Avatar 2 wouldn't have grossed $2.3 billion.

Super Mario isn't going to gross anywhere near as much.

I liked Avatar 2.

I presume I'm going to like Super Mario.

Disney clearly does know how to appeal to some people.

Avatar 2 has been in production since 2009. Disney did not acquire Fox until recently. They get zero credit for the success of that movie.

Regardless, I was comparing kids films. Avatar and Black Panther are geared toward older audiences. People don't freak out as much when you put gay or other woke themes in PG-13 and above material as those films aren't for little kids.

Disney hurt their brand when they pushed the gay message in films for small children (Lightyear and Strange World). And those two films flopped because of it.

Iger admitted as much in his most recent shareholder call. He said to the effect that (paraphrasing)"parents have different levels of comfort in regards to certain material and we will take that into account going forward".

Does this mean that Disney will back off the groomer message in future films? I doubt it. They may make it less obvious.

Or maybe they will keep charging full steam ahead. Next up is Elemental in June so we will soon find out.

I wish they’d do Star Fox. I loved that game as a kid. Could be Nintendo’s version of Top Gun mixed with guardians of the galaxy.

They need to do 2 versions, and I'll happily go to the one where they shoot Slippy down at all possible times.

Zelda could be a tremendous universe. Endless opportunities. Think Lord of the Rings if done right. Just printing the fricking money.
