I always thought they could have based a series off of Riker becoming the captain of the Titan in the last TNG movie.
all this and more are in books now. the TNG, DS9 and VOY relaunches (season 8 and 9 in you will) along with the Titan series, are all really fun books. Quick reads and like I said, Destiny trilogy is boom dynamite. You find out where the Borg came from. Can't talk aboout these enough, ha.

Cost and ratings will keep Trek off the little screen.
Just look at the crap that was SGU. It was allegedly the most expensive SG incarnation and yet it had ZERO aliens.
Trek had about 30 aliens in every single episode. The production values for Trek were through the roof.
I just don't see any studio at the moment spending the kind of money necessary to bring Trek back to the small screen. Sc-Fi has failed miserably recently. Even BSG didn't have the ratings necessary to continue to support the show.
The new incarnation of Doctor Who spends half the time on Earth to save production costs and they have used the Daleks and Cybermen more in 6 seasons than in the previous 30 combined. Cost cutting.
Sci-Fi is just too damn expensive. For long term viability, the ratings have to be a smashing success and real sci-fi simply doesn't pull enough fans.
