Why is Pulp Fiction called Pulp Fiction?

What is the meaning/origin of that term, and how does it relate to the movie?

The name refers to the magazines known as "pulp" or "pulp fiction" in the early 1900s to about WWII.
The name was chosen because of the film's use of lurid, seedy characters and situations involving violence, crime, and sex. Those elements were exploited in old pulp magazines in order to attract readership, and the film attempted to mirror certain of those elements and styles.

Pretty sure it refers to old horror/romance, etc. stories told in magazines and novels - kind of raising gratuitous sex and violence to the level of a genre. Not sure if the pages were actually made from wood pulp but probably so.

Refers to old crime stories in Pulp Magazines. They were known for intense dialogue and parallel stories within larger stories.

Pulp refers back to the cheap dime novel paperbacks that were popular in the early 20th century. They dealt in lurid crime related stories which inspired noir thrillers in the 40s to the pulp era of the 70s Tarantino was inspired by where pulp has branched out into other areas like westerns,sci-fi, and fantasy.
One of my favorite Pulp Blogs, Probably NSFW.

I love when someone provides the definition right off in a thread like this, then like 7 people say the same thing just worded differently because they want you to know that they knew what it meant

Or, just may, just perhaps, those people had opened the reply box and were typing while the first reply was being posted. Wild thought, i know.

Well, which 7 posts were you referring to? I know I started replying before the definition was posted. And i posted like two minutes after that one by the time stamp. One person posted before me, one person posted a minute or so after me. And the majority of the rest of the posts don't seem to be trying to duplicate any definition to show off. But you're welcome to believe that if you want of course.
