Did he ever get his oil cleaning machine working? You heard about it during the spill and the nothing.

What do you make of the theory that the British accent is actually a relatively new development, therefore Robin Hood would not have had a British accent

Never saw it, never seen it praised much before this thread, but apparently a lot of you guys really love it.

awful, imo. couldn't watch it all.

The Big Chill.
Dude really tied that movie together.
Seriously, though. I agree with OP.
I'd also put Message in a Bottle in there. Good chick flick and anything with Paul Newman and Robin Wright is the shite.
Swing Vote is good too. I like Costner as a rough around the edges guy like in Tin Cup which is one of his best IMO.

Silverado is one I like him in also.

I still really love:
A Perfect World
Tin Cup
Bull Durham
The Untouchables
No Way Out
For whatever reason Field of Dreams just never really clicked for me - although there are several lines from the movie that I loved

Supposed to be true. Our Appalachian accent is supposed to be pretty close to the British accent of several hundred years ago. What people consider to be a typical Brit accent is the way royalty and the upper class used to speak. Now the common people use it and royalty speak like twits. England actually has at least as much variety in their accents as we do in the States. There is not a standard British accent any more than there is a standard American accent.

Fandango is also cool if you can find it.

Yes, If you watched LSU at the College World Series in the 90's, you probably saw him in the stands at Omaha. He was at quite a few LSU games. He went to Cal State Fullerton (good baseball teams back then) and is still friends with their one time coach Augie Garrido. Garrido is at Texas now. Costner has a home there and goes to some of their games. He is also a part owner of a minor league team in Illinois. Wiki
I like quite a few of his movies. I agree with whoever said he's best at light roles like he played in Bull Durham, Fandango and Silverado.
He has been a part of some good movies and some bad ones.

Charlie Waite was pretty badass.

I liked Open Range, but I liked for the side characters more than his role. I love the kid and the big guy that work with them. Also really like the townspeople like the man in the bar who introduces them to his two sons & the livery stable owner.
Costner's character in this talked a little too much for someone who came from that dark of a background. They made him a little too lovable for me.

I've met Costner several times and you couldn't ask for a nicer guy.

Still doesn't explain Robin Hood having a California accent.

Waterworld was pretty good. Not sure why it got a bad rap. I'll watch it every time it comes on TV. And if u r a soundtrack buff like me, you will probably enjoy the score. That track is in my top ten.
