Why does Batman Forever get a pass while Batman and Robin gets all the hate?

Watching BF on HBO and it's a terrible film dragged down by a very strange mishmash of ultra campy villains and side characters w/a super depressed and brooding Batman that feels like he's from a completely different movie.

At least B&R knows it's straight camp from the get go.

As bad as it may be, it's 100x better than Batman and Robin.

If I had to take a guess, Jim Carrey's performance which is good... But that shouldn't give it a pass due to how great Arnold was as Mr. Freeze. Arnold as Mr. Freeze is easily one of the most memorable villain performances ever. I mean it's awful, but I was thoroughly entertained every moment he was on screen.

I've never hated this movie, although Batgirl sends me up a wall.

It has some great moments. The opening Two Face heist was the best start to any pre-Nolan Batman. And Jim Carey had some great moments as well.

But yeah Forever was awful, gotta be Tommy Lee's worst performance

It's a guilty pleasure of mine actually. It's bad but has redeemable qualities

B&R is just fricking awful

Probably cause it was just fun enough after the depression - fest that was Batman Returns. Over the long run the movie is just as equally bad has B&R.

It's too bad cause JS wanted to make the movies closer to the comics, but WB wanted a more kid friendly and product advertising movie instead.

Its silly and cheesy, but in a good way, something that's lost on today's audience. Batman and Robin is just bad in every way possible.

Returns is the one that seems to get a pass despite it really sucking.

I loved it as a kid, but that has not held up well at all.

I liked Returns the best. Michelle Pfeiffer was totally hot.

Batman Forever

I love that movie and I'm not ashamed about it at all. I'll still watch it every time it's on. I thought both Carrey and Jones were solid, Kilmer was a great Bruce Wayne and a solid Batman, and Kidman looks incredible.

Also, it's one of the few times they actually put Dick Grayson on the goddamn big screen and I enjoyed O'Donnell's performance.

Batman and Robin on the other hand had George Clooney, who was neither a good Batman nor a good Wayne. Uma Thurman wasn't the best Ivy and their decision to make Bane a retarded foot soldier was very disappointing. Also, Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl made no sense.

Because Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carey were halfway entertaining. I liked it when it came out. It was meant to be campy.

I think part of the reason I love it so much is because it was one of the first movies for me that wasn't kiddy shite that I could go see. I remember actually going to see it, all my friends having all kinds of toys from the movie. Going to Taco Bell or McDonalds and then having the collectible glass cups of Batman and Robin.

I remembered some of the commercials for the movie and it was new for me and that captivated me. It was more like an event than a movie and I loved it for that. It also helps that as a 6-year old I thought that shite was better than a slice of Bunny bread.
