I seriously doubt he actually lead charges with any real consistency. There's a reason the point guy always gets killed.

Yeah, it was funny how much emphasis they put on that in the early seasons of TNG with Riker always making the point about protecting the captain, blah blah. Guess they were trying to make clear the intent to split the character.
