Why can't they make a normal King Arthur movie?

This is such bullshite the crap they keep feeding us. King Arthur and the Round Table is one of the greatest stories ever. There's a reason it's lasted. But we keep on getting just mind/numbingly stupid adaptations. I honestly feel that Monty Python is the second closest movie after Excalibur for the past 3( years to what the movie should be. Instead we get all these historicalized bullshite or CGI movie that's coming out soon. The King Arthur myth isn't about roiled up douches standing in front of green screens.

We need a movie that really does explore the grandeaur of what being a knight in Arthur's court would be like. Heraldry, the armor, the mirth and wit and men who are dedicated to chivalric virtues and quests and on and on. I want that movie

They completely ruined a chance to make a bad arse movie with Charlie Hunman, Jude Law, and a great supporting cast. Instead they had to make it a Huntsman-style fantasy. I just want a realistic take on all of it. They could have knocked it out of the park with that cast and material.

It's a story driven by a wizard, a lady in a lake dispensing swords, and the Holy Grail. If it's realistic it's not the tale of King Arthur.

That was my biggest Gripe with Harry Potter.

I just wanted a very grounded and realistic take on wizards flying around battling dragons

I think a Game of Thrones style TV series treatment would do it better justice than a 2-3 hour movie.

First Knight was ok. But it felt more like a chick flick.

Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!

Don't get me wrong, outside of Colonial America, I love the Middle and Dark Ages from a historical and fictional perspective, however....

Uh what?

The Dark Ages were called "Dark" for a reason. All of the heavy romanticism about the time period existed to counteract the extreme brutality and pure desolateness of the time.

Knights were probably dumb as bricks and maimed from an early age. Everyone died of, well, anything. Political systems focused on sustaining extreme poverty.

It was not a "mirthful" time period.

I don't think you have an accurate grasp on the era if that's what you think.

It was titled King Arthur.

Slightly different take on the legend by focusing on Arthur as a role within the Roman Empire in Britain.

No Excalibur, no lady in the lake, no Holy Grail, no Camelot. Still good in its own way.
