Suicide Squad is absolute trash. The movie completely undoes itself and is basically opens and closes the plot in what should be one movie. It should also just be Deadshot and Harley: The movie. The rest of the squad is basically there for filler material.

It is notoriously hated on this board, but it is nowhere close to as bad as the posters on here make it sound.

My $10 tickets was worth seeing it. I Was entertained by it, but I also saw it after it had been getting slammed.

For some reason people on this board hype the frick out of movies, especially superhero ones. This amd BvS never stood a fair chance, even though they are both underwhelming, but don't let the hate on here make you think they are the two worst movies of all time.

Marvel makes great movies that have superheroes in them.

Until they focus on telling a good story, about interesting people that happen to be heroes, they will continue to fail.

This is almost correct. DC/Warner Bros has been trying to make films as opposed to movies. It worked for the Dark Knight Trilogy and not so well with BvS. Marvel has been playing catchup to DC since 1978 btw. Not even a blip really until the Xmen and Spiderman from 2000 on.

Dude, the marvel cartoons from the early 90s had Marvel firmly in front.

Marvel was making cartoons. The Timm/Dini Batman, Superman, Justice League... that was on a higher level.

What? Overall, Marvel exceeded DC in main stream popularity across media with their successful cartoons. At the same time, DC was seeing the Batman franchise driven into the ground after Burton/Keaton.

Marvel used movies to build characters.

DC used characters to build movies.

Yes, really. Those cartoons were a big part of growing up for the new generation. Those characters are more a part of nostalgia than Superman and Batman for the current ticket buyers. The 55 year old guy who read Superman comics in 1963 is less likely to watch a superhero movie than a 30 year old who watched the cartoons in the early 90s.

Also, the most successful 90s cartoon character to become part of the MCU was actually Iron Man. Well, I guess they finally brought back Spidey, but that's beside the point.

The MCU was built with characters, not because of them. That's where DC is running into problems. The movies are basically shadow boxes with tired little figurines in them.

Nolan made something different and added depth to the Batman character. Beyond that, their characters have been extremely shallow. I actually thought Cavill was a perfect Superman, but it just doesn't shine through.

The timeline again:
1) DC has success with standalone Nolan Batman series
2) Marvel has success with Iron Man and begins expanded universe
3) DC decides to get into the secondary hero business and makes its version of a Marvel fim with their Iron Man level character: Green Lantern
4) DC has to get a Superman film into production due to rights issues and taps their successful Nolan and Goyer to produce. DC hires their most successful current superhero director, Snyder.
5) While Superman is in production, Avengers breaks records
6) DC decides to get into the expanded universe business and can either (a)Start from scratch (b)Build on the failed Green Lantern or (c)Build on the semi-successful Man of Steel
7) DC goes with Man of Steel/Snyder to launch. They announce Batman V Superman.
8) DC announces list of future films
9) DC plans to start dark and serious with Batman V Superman, Suicide Squad, Justice League, with occasional lighter films (Wonder Woman, Flash, Shazam)
10) Batman V Superman is released and DC gets blindsided by the critics and audience reaction
11) Affleck is a standout and is given partial control of the Batman film character
12) Geoff Johns is promoted over everyone and Justice League takes a lighter tone
13) Suicide Squad is test marketed with light and dark versions, the light version is released to bad reviews and slightly encouraging revenue
14) Wonder Woman wraps shooting and shows a lighter overall tone than the previous films
Current status: Wonder Woman in editing phase with the knowledge that they need to keep the tone light. Justice League shooting with Geoff Johns in place since day one.

DC should have done this

1.Man of steel
2.Batman standalone with Affleck - Firefly, clayface, black mask ( i guess affleck)
3.Man of Steel 2 ( braniac, metallo, fighing world hunger ,isis, and poverty too)
Flash movie

4. Wonder woman
Aquaman
Then maybe martian manhunter or Marvel. Maybe cyborg

5. Other Properties
Suicide Squad
Teen Titans Film ( only thing maybe as cool as Gotg)
Justice Society
Doom patrol
DC also never has the cool chratcers MArvel has

Where are you getting this? Your age group is constantly in here calling for Bruce Timm. How many creators of 90's superhero cartoons can you name? Have you seen any of the actual producers or artists or voice talents from the X-Men cartoon ever mentioned in this forum? (Other than Stan Lee, who's only involvement was as the narrator.) Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are revered as gods in here. Can you name a voice talent from X-Men or Fantastic Four without checking IMDB or Wiki?

Here's my concern with WW. Gal Gadot mentioned that will be a dark film back in April.

quote:

“In Batman V Superman, you get a glimpse of who she is but not where she comes from. In Wonder Woman, this would be the first time we ever tell the coming-of-age story of how Diana becomes Wonder Woman. … It’s very interesting. It has moments of humour, but it’s pretty dark

I just hope they don't do to WW, what appears to have happened with SS.

Patty Jenkins has the benefit of knowing what kind of end product they'll require. Ayer went in during the "dark is good" era and then got waved off after he'd edited most of the film.

Honestly, I think it's the score.

I watched Winter Soldier again last night, and the score is just amazing.

TDK had an amazing score.

BvS...what was the score? do you remember a note of it?

SS....even worse. It was just pathetic.

Great movies have great scores that coincide with the story. Not random noises.

I agree that great movies have great scores, but I don't remember the score of any of those.

Yes, it's a terrible movie. Some will try to cover for it. The latest line of defense seems to be that it was never given a fair chance. That's utter nonsense. I had hopes that it would be good because there was some good source material to work with in this story. Not unreasonable expectations, I just wanted a good movie. The hard truth is Ayer and the studio completely failed here. And they failed on an enormous level. One of the worst movies ever made. Listening to the dialogue should feel insulting to you.
