Why can't DC get it right? Is it because Marvel's success is in their heads?

I mean, I don't get it. Marvel has laid the groundwork and provided the blueprint on how to create successful superhero franchises.

All DC has to do is follow the blueprint.

But, noooooo, DC seems to be trying too hard to be different...and they're failing.

Just follow Marvel's lead and do it right! It can't be that difficult.

They're trying to do too much in a short amount of time. BvS should have had some lead up before being made. And the entire death of Superman story should have been completely separate. They tried to do in one movie what Marvel layed out over a few years

Even though DC is the older company, they have historically been playing catch up to Marvel, trying to emulate the House that Spider-Man Built. It's almost the same pattern with movies. they keep trying to copy Marvel, but not copy them as well. It's a hard line to toe.

They keep trying to make great superhero movies.

Marvel makes great movies that have superheroes in them.

Until they focus on telling a good story, about interesting people that happen to be heroes, they will continue to fail.

They panicked when MOS underachieved at the box office. Instead of taking their time with this universe, they started rushing to everything. Apparently David Ayer only had 6 weeks to complete a script for SS.

Honestly, I think it's the score.

I watched Winter Soldier again last night, and the score is just amazing.

TDK had an amazing score.

BvS...what was the score? do you remember a note of it?

SS....even worse. It was just pathetic.

Great movies have great scores that coincide with the story. Not random noises.

That's an excellent summation.

How so? They tasted success and feel they can do no wrong now?

They tried making other properties (Superman) dark and gritty like TDK. For many fans that didn't work for Supes.

We may need to tone down the hyperbole.

Speaking of which, Civil War comes out on digital this Friday.

I thought they would never come close to the Winter Soldier score, but Civil War proved me wrong.

People forget how important a score really is to a film. It can overcome a lot of issues....

But even beyond that, BvS and SS maybe two of the worst major films made in the last 20 years.

I completely agree.

It can also cause a lot of issues if it's a poor fit. (Ladyhawk says hi).

Is Suicide Squad really that bad? I haven't seen it yet but I don't know single person IRL who saw it and liked it.

I said it years ago and was laughed at but history has proven me correct. Christopher Nolan was the best and worst thing to happen to DC comic movies.
