This thread comes on the heels of watching mother! with Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem and without spoiling it the last 30 minutes of the movie really gave me that "this is fricked up" feeling in my stomach.

So what other movies/scenes do this to you?

That movie freaked me the frick out until the last 20 minutes and it got stupid to me.

Hostel fricked me up pretty good.

ETA SPOILERS:

I figured out the metaphor/allegory in Mother and it almost made me laugh after that.

Requiem for a Dream is generally my standard answer for these threads, but currently Chernobyl is fricking me up pretty good

mother! is one of those movies where you either love it or hate it. Obviously, you don't have to agree with the point of view of the artist, but I enjoyed the art for the way it was displayed.

Probably Silence of the Lambs

Also, Sir Anthony did another creepy film called "Magic" that was disturbing

Scariest, most disturbing: The Exorcist.

Took me 3 times to finally finish it as an adolescent.

Most unsettling, depressing/disturbing: there's a few, Open Water is one of them. The sheer dread and human nature of the film is depressing and so morbid.

This for me. It's a good movie, but really hard to watch through the downward spural at the end.

That said, I actively avoid other stuff I've seen described as disturbing like A Serbian Film. I'm just not interested in that sort of thing.

I don't regret watching Requiem for a Dream, but I have no desire to ever watch it again.

The scene in The Hills Have Eyes remake where the mutant/redneck dude is forcibly breastfeeding from that girl while holding a gun on her baby was nine kinds of fricked up.

Its an interesting visual experience in the beginning when you dont realize whats going on, but once you start to become aware of the allegory, it comes across as pretentious bullcrap

Blue Velvet. Movie creeped the hell out of me.

That and Requium are two movies I will never watch again. BV for the eerie, creepiness. Requiem bc of the sadness. Both are extremely good, but I have no desire to ever see them again.

Rosemary’s Baby was pretty damn disturbing. I walked out of that extremely “unsettled”.

I've seen Requiem for a dream no less than 20 times. That score is incredible.

And I didn't let the fact that I knew the movie was turning into an allegory bother me. I enjoyed it as an art piece. I understood what he was doing, and I enjoyed the visual display of it. But I can understand why people hate it. It's not a conventional way to tell a story. It's not even really telling a coherent story at all. It's just a representation of the dark and sometimes random rumblings of a mad man. And I enjoyed the visual aspect, even though I obviously find his interpretation to be preposterous.
