You're right. I missed that because it was above the OP's quoted words.

Yeah, Mad Men wouldn't have been nearly as iconic if it was just a soap opera in the early 60's.
The fact that they would jump years ahead each season was not only wise but they obviously realized putting the audience in time and place and living through that was part of the attraction...and changing time and place was like living through someones entire life.
Soap Operas don't do this. They never really age.
This was a long slow burn movie of characters from naive to mature to regret and finally to peace.

The real question is who was the Draper Rapers hottest pull?
Besides Jane, I think the teacher was the finest on the show.
Who ya got?

Ignoring the fact that she drug down the last 75% of her time on the show (minus the final 1-2 episodes where she was golden), no one can touch early Betty.
Except maybe early Megan, when she was still trying to impress him.

Betty is the untouchable. I meant his side pieces.
Megan is hit or miss to me. Sometimes I don't mind the teeth, other times, eh.

This.
It was a character study set within a study of generational evolution at a time of rapid change in the greatest empire in world history, explored via the guise of the advertising industry in Manhattan, which allowed for the introduction of items of pop culture and easy forays into explorations of changing attitudes.

Bethany Van Nuys (Anna Camp) without question. She blew him in a taxi.
