The first movie I remember seeing in a theatre was Song of the South. I remember that I wanted to see a My Lil Ponies movie but my mom got the times mixed up or something so we saw that. Must have been the 1986 release so I was 3.
I don't remember anything really but that...and Zip A Dee Do Dah.

It was ‘“Porky’s’” in 1981 and I was five years old.
That's classic. I have a similar story...my grandmother took my sister and I when we were just kids on a trip and one night we said we wanted to see a movie.
So we told her we wanted to see Friday the 13th Part 3 (we just wanted to see it because we'd never seen a 3D movie before) - and her face was aghast the entire film with all the killing and nudity...after the movie she had this look like, what have I done?

Does a Drive-In count as "in the theater"? If so, then it was Star Wars at the drive in. If not, then it was Superman.

Probably one of Pinocchio, Dumbo, or Peter Pan, in the 60's when they replayed them in the theater in downtown Natchez. Although I do remember sleeping through a replay of Gone With the Wind there too. That was most likely the first one I was in the building for.

Man some of yall have some good memories. Remembering you going to a movie at age 3. I dont know if I would have a single memory at that age if it wasnt for some home videos we have.

I was like 5 years old. Also saw Willy Wonka and Tommy in the movie theaters as a kid along with a Bond flick or 2 (Live and Let Die for sure). Roller Ball was another. Mom veto'd any horror flicks at all.
Pretty sure parents allowed us the movies for some alone time for them. Drop the 3 of us kids off and then pick us up couple hours later.

Return of the Jedi was the first real movie/non cartoon film I saw! 1983! I was almost 6.

Ghostbusters - I was 5. The librarian ghost and the scene Dana is attacked in her apartment scared the shite out of me. To this day, it is one of the movies I will sit down and watch anytime it's on.

Not sure which came first, but none were appropriate for a five year old.
Gidget, with Sandra Dee. In an early scene she was wearing a white two piece swimsuit. I remember being concerned because I thought she was in her underwear and I asked my older sister why she was wearing a bra and panties to the beach.
Psycho. Yes, my parents were crazy. We were on vacation in Padre Island and Corpus Christi. The whole family went to see Psycho. My mother tried to cover my eyes through the scary parts, but I wasn't having it.
Imitation of Life. A real tear-jerker. I was with my aunt in Liberty, Texas. When I cried during a heartbreaking scene, she laughed at me because she thought I was too young to understand why it was so sad. I wasn't.

Still hoping one of my local theaters will eventually show this. One of my top 3 movies of all time and i'd love to see it on the big screen.

Batman (1989). It was a drive in. Don't remember a whole lot TBH. But probably my oldest memory ever was seeing Batman on the big screen.

An American Tail. 1986. I was four years old.
Not long after that I remember my grandmother taking me to a dollar theater to see a re-screen of ET.
