He was rich as anyone, said writing was easy, didn't have to deal with shite - agents/editors took care of everything once you got your first few novels in...

I can't even remember all the specifics myself. I think there was an article posted somewhere that I had linked to on the OT a few years ago. Apparently, said article was a fabrication or something and she was going around to every message board and comment section to defend herself (I think it was something about her?).
I apologized and she was pretty cool about it after that. Lives in New Mexico and makes art IIRC
