1988 Bill Murray
1999 Patrick Stewart

I loved Scrooged. It's one of my favorite Christmas movies out right.

The Jim Carrey (Disney?) version was well done. They incorporated many of the actual lines and monologues from the book. G

eorge S Scott did a great job as well.

Gotta go with the George C. Scott TV version from 1984. He's an excellent Scrooge, they don't shy away from the darkness of the book one bit, and it's also one of the more faithful adaptations in general. Plus the fact that they really filmed it in England elevates the production values tremendously.

There's a lot of good answers to this question though, because they made, I think literally, a hundred adaptations over the years. I'm really partial to the 1951 Alastair Sim version, the Muppet version, the Mickey version, and the Robert Zemeckis motion-capture version starring Jim Carrey. That one might be the most faithful of all, and though there's a little bit too much mugging with the 3D (the chase scene with the Ghost of Christmas Future is particularly dumb and tedious) and Bob Cratchit looks like a hobbit, it's really well-directed overall. I love how much macabre humor Zemeckis puts in there despite making the movie for Disney -- the bit where Marley struggles with his dislodged jaw made me laugh, but I was kind of concerned for the kids in the audience.

Scrooged is the only one I'd watch over and over, so I guess my answer is Scrooged.
