Will there ever be some sort of resolution or finale, or in the words of Phil Hartman will it continue on until it is no longer profitable?

I think there will be a sopranos type ending.

To bore the zombies all to death with the same rinse and repeat plot line they have had the entire series.

I am losing interest, because the is no goal besides survive which is boring after this many years.

Each season, enter a new bad group. Rick's team will triumph over them in 1-2 seasons and then enter new bad group.

I would like them to end the season with a cure the French were working on. A refounding of America by the Europeans. Of course that is the plot of the TNT series, The Last Ship.

There is no endgame. They're going to string that thing out as long as they're making any bit of profit

My guess, Rick dies and Carl takes over

Well the general support is based on the comics and in the comics there is no end game. The story is their survival.

So the story ends when they no longer survive.

Wake me up when that happens.

Rick wakes up.

I genuinely hope that happens.

It looks like they're going to string people along until the story is worn out and they have a finale that is anticlimactic and stale.

GoT having a stated end game and purposefully limiting their run is the way to go if you want a truly great series, but AMC is going old school "milk it until no one gives a shite anymore" soap opera style.

they are following the comics
if you want to know the endgame of the current storyline it's there to know

as to the eventual ending who knows
the comics are one to two seasons ahead
GoT is not a good comparison

As far as how a series should go, yes it is. They aren't trying to stretch the story out as much as possible to keep it going indefinitely. WD is, which means it will have become tedious by the time it's over.

Rick is really dead. No way he was out that long with a non operating IV.

The "it was all a dream" or Rick's really dead would be a cheap cop out and ruin the whole show.

I don't think it will be a happily ever after ending either. I'd expect something more along the lines of the struggle to survive going on but in a more hopeful and safe place....but after a long and drawn out war where Rick and a few other major characters die. Maybe there is some long distance communication established.

I envision them making a desperate last stand or gearing up for a huge war, only to have the military show up and resolve it, while announcing that a cure has been found. Maybe 4 or 5 of the original core group are left by then.

Or Rick has limited ammo

Shoots carl, judith, Michonne and Morgan.

30 seconds after doing so the military comes through.

Sees Carol sitting on a tank.
