What are some movies that you respect, but at the same time do not like?

There will be blood - Didn't really enjoy watching this film. It's extremely well done and I wouldn't argue with anyone who says it's a modern classic. It's just not for me.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - I can acknowledge that these films were a triumph for Peter Jackson, but they do nothing for me. Overly long and boring at times.

Birdman - Just watched this the other day. Great cinematography and wonderful acting. And I was bored with it.

Too many to name. They might have some cool aspect but they fail as movies.

idk if I would call it boring but I agree that it's overhyped. To me Casino is the better gangster movie.

Birdman

If In the Line Of Fire is the banner movie for the USSS, and Backdraft is the banner movie for firemen, and Top Gun is the banner movie for Naval Aviators and pseudo-homoerotic male bonding, then Birdman is the banner movie for actors.

I get why Hollywood loved it, and I agree it was very well done. But its not something I want to sit down every night and watch.

Agree with Birdman. The acting is amazing. The movie I'll never watch again.

Ex Machina
The Passion
Silver Lining Playbook

Breaking Bad fits this category for me.

#1 For me, has and always will be The Godfather. It's a wonderful film with a bunch of artists at the peak of their form. Script, production design, music, acting, everything is spot on. It's a legit Top 5 or 10 film of all time, and one of the few who I would say is "no question," in that discussion.

I just really really dislike the film.

Scarface. I neither respect it nor do I like it. It was had horrible acting. All the characters were horribly stereotypes, and the movie was about as predictable as one could be.

See these are films I flipped on. I would have put Malick on my list, but a few years ago, something just clicked. Love his stuff now. Every single film. (Shout out to a few posters on here who never gave up on me.)

The films of PT Anderson. I get that he's a very good director, I just am completely uninterested in anything he has to say. Wes Anderson, OTOH, I still do not even respect.

Boyhood, I respect the idea and the concept, but I loathe Patricia Arquette and I really found the movie to be boring and overall pointless.

2001: A Space Odyssey is without question one of the most profound and influential films of all time. I've seen it all the way through twice but I don't think I can ever sit through it again.
