How did the Ewoks manage to pre-stage a catapult, a log avalanche and a swinging log sandwich on short notice within a couple hundred feet of a heavily guarded Imperial bunker?

Empire probably felt like they were no threat for starters.

The log avalanche just may have been unsafe logging practices that worked to their advantage against the AT-STs.

But I believe the unofficial explanation would be that there were large creatures on that particular moon that plagued Ewok villages, as seen in the made for TV movie "Caravan of Courage." So, these were probably defenses for these giant bipeds.

However, after a quick check, those creatures (Gorax) are canon even if that movie isn't.

So, there you go...all that stuff was there to fight off Gorax.

I get that it may be the weakest of the originals, but I still love ROTJ. Love Jabbas palace, the end of Yoda, The final Rebel assault on the Death Star, and of course Luke's confrontation with Vader

Ewoks don't bug me that much. And yes I still have my McDonalds Ewok glass cup from 1983

The Final Fight between Luke and Vader made me want a Vader movie even more...

Qui Gon wasn't purely light side. He was kinda a rebel, stubborn, arrogant, and always conflicted, hence why he disobeyed Yoda with regards to Anakin, and didn't become a force ghost when he died.

You are making stuff up. I don't know if it's ever explicitly stated, but he (Anakin) is the chosen one. Stands to reason, he doesn't need special training to become a force ghost.

All Lucas did was shrink Wookiees to 3 feet tall in order to have them cute and sell toys.
I also think that in 1983 it was probably easier to find a lot of little people to put in costumes to play Ewoks than it was to find a similar number of 7 foot tall people to put in costumes to be Wookiees.

Also, we have know how much physical strength Wookiees have - the small, weaker Ewoks made a good parallel to the rebellion in that they were outmanned and underpowered, but were able to overcome the greater power that is the Empire.

I don't get how Han runs 20 feet before the bunker detonated yet they pull away and the blast had over a mile radius.

The huge explosion was the dish itself blowing up which looked to be several miles away. Han just blew up the control bunker which wasn't that big of an explosion.

This is true. Costumes were likely way cheaper, both because of size and material used. That fuzzy carpet had to be cheaper than the long hairs of Chewy's costume.

If you think about it, the Ewoks are terrifying creatures. They quickly adapt to new technologies (e.g. using blasters, driving the AT-ST, using speeder), were obviously going to eat everyone they met minus Leia, happened to have a human dress lying around for Leia (or this meant they had tailors but wore leather headdresses only, for fun), and had Leia change into or dressed her in said dress (which was the second time in the movie whenever Leia was potentially forcibly undressed and redressed).

As cool as it would have been to watch Wookiees take on the empire, it would have just been fan service. The Emperor wasn't stupid enough to place his most critical small base next to a village of angry Wookiees. A village of cute Ewoks seemed irrelevant.
