Yes, but Cap would take a nice chunk of change out of BvS pockets. It's not worth it for BvS to lose money over pride

Probably, but Marvel would have moved because of that fact. It would have never gotten to a head to head.

Unless there's another reason DC/WB just had to confirm and move on. Clearly with the schedule release, maybe there's something else coming down the pipe soon.

Smart move no matter who blinked, why put them in the same weekend.

This about says it all. Marvel is batting 1000 at this point. No reason to compete with them in their first ensemble movie.

The thing is, Marvel could take a financial blow and still keep the train chugging along...DC has so much more to lose.

But Captain America? Even as a Cap fan, BvS will beat Cap 3 at the Box Office, badly. Even if neither would have ducked the date, head to head BvS wins. No question.Disney marketing isn't that scary.

If this were Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice against just a Captain America film I would say yeah.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice against a Phase 3 Captain America film right after Avengers: Age of Ultron, No.

I think kidd49 hit the nail on the head. BvS would likely win the battle, but CA 3 would take tons of money away from it.

I think that it would depend on the marketing, and where they leave things off with Cap after Avengers 2.

Transformers is outselling everything so I'm hesitant to forecast the choices of future audiences.

Well, at least now we don't have to worry about it. There will likely be some battles in the future. DC needs to establish themselves before going head to head with Marvel, that's for sure.

Bingo.

Someone was moving, and I'm almost certain Marvel would have moved at some point. Think about it this way too, BvS is filming, Cap 3 isn't. There was certainly room to force Marvel to move Cap. DC is going to have a lot more breathing room at this point, which would allow them to shift gears if Marvel held onto the date THAT long.

ff of Captain America 3 release
This movie is gonna suck
No one puts a blockbuster in March
They would be better off with a Christmas or Thanksgiving release

studios have been moving away from that kind of thinking for years now.

Captain America 2 was a March release just this year.

The main point here is that SvB would have lost money. They lose either way. No doubt Marvel is happy about this, also. They would have also lost money.

They are stretching the summer blockbuster window. This is a good sign.

for sure

but I wouldn't really even call it that anymore.

here in 5-10 years I expect we will end up with a couple of huge tent pole movies in each and every month.

sure summer and to a lesser degree Christmas will still be the biggies but these days they are far more willing to fill the void in traditionally barren months.

Ok so that's all this is? Good. I was worried for a bit.

I seem to get into big misunderstandings with others, just making sure I call it out before things get out of hand.

i found an article in April saying Marvel/Disney was highly considering moving and was worried about it.

I think GotG changed that tied. either way, it benefits both.
