That's how I viewed it. Bjorn took the bait, but maybe he wanted to so he can get out of there and move on from his GIMP brother.

Episode wasn't bad but could've been so much better

What was the sword they focused on in the end?

Yeah who was that dude and what was the significance of the sword? I missed his name.

The Ivar character has become annoying and tiresome.

Agreed, he's annoying me at this point. And yes, what was the deal with the sword at the end?

The sword signified that this wasn't just some regular bishop. He is a warrior bishop and will become a big time adversary for the sons of Ragnar (Ivar mainly I believe) next season.

Oh man what an episode. Poor Floki, that shite was so sad. Had to turn on subtitles to hear him speaking last episode but it was beautiful. On another note, so glad that Ivar killed Sigurd. That kid was such a whiny bitch and definitely was the least Viking of all of Ragnar's sons. My favorite part of the episode though was when the best character, Halfdan the Black, agreed to go with Bjorn (my other favorite character) to the Mediterranean. Next season is going to be fricking tight.

I hope next season deals more with the Norse settling Normandy. The Normans held a very tenuous peace with the kings of France that often erupted into all out war. That could be fun to keep an eye on.

I think it's poor writing. They are obviously trying to push him into a leading role, and the lines he get

I agree, he is going a little over the top. I may have laughed for the first time when watching this show when Sigurd said to him, "You're crazy." He was right about that.

Somehow I've missed most of this series after season 1. I've caught the last couple and they were pretty good.

For those who've watched all of the show - have they ever depicted an actual shield wall battle as described in the Cornwell books? If so, can you point to around the season/episode it was? For some reason these shows never depict that except that the very beginning of Rome had a pretty great scene.

Did you guys see the preview for that new History channel Knightfall about the Knights Templar? Looks very Vikingish. I'm pumped.

I haven't seen that but the Templars are pretty interesting so if it's well done I'll definitely catch that.

Oh, and I did find a clip from an earlier season (of Vikings) of a more Cornwell-esque shield wall battle.

Yep, I usually fast forward the commercials, but when I saw that I rewound it to watch that preview.

The sword read "Ananizapta"

quote:

Dr. Karl thinks that the meaning of the whole formula is:

Jesus Christ defeated death (the devil)
by being baptized by John
and by dying on the cross ("chiasmus").

Link about Ananizapta meaning

The guy didn't seem like he was in England during the scene. I wonder if he's connected to the Vatican or the Holy Roman Empire or even some sort of "Holy Warrior" similar to the Knights Templar.

Is it possible that the Vikings are now about to clash with the Holy Roman Empire/Pope or Templar's?

Side note, Dat battle scene was awesome
