Last nights raid was more typical for the actual raids. Most of the time they would just walk right into the city out the blue instead of what we saw in the raid on Paris.

But yes, I agree. Started strong then waned at the end.

Just watched the promo for next week...

Looks like we get to see them assemble The Great Heathen Army.

I'm excited about this, but it's gonna suck if they kill Lagertha too

Ivar

Him and his brothers finna eat in the British isles. Bjorn is going to light up the Mediterranean. It's going to be awesome.

The writers are pretty good with story lines.

I agree, the second half of this season has a lot of potential. I could almost see Bjorn and that group returning to Kattegat to join the revenge army to England.

Really enjoyed this episode. Looks like Bjorn has got himself another squeeze!
I may cry when Ivar kills Lagertha.
I couldn't pick up what Odin tells Ivar.

"Your father is dead" Then something about the earth where he is buried? Can anyone tell me what he says?

After this series, I bet Ivar will be on the next season of Forged in fire.

I had the same thought. I was wondering when Ivar would do the quench. And if Ivar's weapon would "Cut" and "Keel".

Ragnar lies cold in the cold iron earth. All I can remember off of the top of my head.

Any thoughts on the reasoning/meaning behind the Odin scene at the end?

The gods are real despite Ragnar's disbelief and still favor the Lothbroks?

I thought Ragnar was just fricking with the English when he gave his little speech just before he died, but it looks like it was a "deathbed conversion" type thing, he really did regain his Viking faith, and Odin high-fived him when he entered Valhalla. Informing and empowering the sons was Ragnar's reward.

Ivar won't kill Lagertha, Bjorn will.

Note how the seer delayed his answer.

I'd bet they turn around and head back after Odin's visit.

I haven't watched the newest episode yet so there may be something I'm missing here, but I just don't see this happening and can't think of any justifiable reason for it to happen.

Ivar is a different story, especially after Ragnar's last words to him were telling him to be ruthless and angry, including towards his own brothers.

That wasnt THE raid. That was like stopping for snacks and a piss on the way to THE raid.

I thought the ambiguity of the question and answer was interesting as well. Ivar is just too obvious at this point. It's definitely going to be delayed though. Odin was refocusing him on his greater destiny when he spoke with him. There is a greater revenge to be had. Hell, it took awhile for Lagertha to enact revenge against Kalf for usurping her and all that he attempted to do so I could see the writers dragging this one out for awhile.

I find Floki's reaction to the Muslim temple interesting. Especially given his treatment of Athelstan and his Christian God.

Ragnar essentially delivering the confirmation of his own death to Lagertha was a poignant moment for me.

I absolutely loved the portrayal of Odin. Loved the closing of the episode with Ragnar's speech before he died. Flat out badass way to show his sons receiving the news and the Gods rallying them together.

Yep. Refocusing Ivar that they must get revenge and recover Ragnar's body (at least that's how I interpreted it) to be burned in an appropriate Viking funeral.
