You can get a basic one for under $500 new, not sure if they have the ability to really shop around or buy used, but if so they can probably get a working fridge for $100 or so.

Would be very useful if they were able to kill a deer or something of that nature.

Yeah and the one guy with a background in agronomy just wants to lounge around and frick the Asian.

Agreed.

And it would work for food, water (not necessary, but cold water is an incredible pick me up sometimes), and especially the milk they have. Eggs. Etc.

I cannot wait until the time comes when someone kills one of the deer to eat. Psycho Bella and the Stupid Asian are gonna go nuts.

I can't fricking wait.

I can't even begin to explain how awesome this show has potential to be. It's like they took the Survivor and Big Brother rejects and put them in a nationally televized cage. Add that to it seeming pretty unstaged compared to the low rent shite shows that they pass off as reality on cable channels..... Just so much potential.

Also have only seen the first episode. Didn't realize the second one was on until the last few minutes.

I find myself constantly ranking the utopians I hate the most, and the shows so crazy the ranking changes 2-4 times a show. Homeless ExCon was a quick #1, then Josh was being such a douchebag, even before he got all drunk. Then the flaky Cali chick. Now josh is being cool and nice.

The blow ups from Jersey Rob are getting old. I think he's going to be a problem soon.

That dude might actually be my least favorite. He adds nothing, except fodder for short jokes.

Then you'll enjoy this: Ranking the cast of Utopia, from shady to shadiest. Pretty solid read.

Some highlights:
quote:

Jonathan is a Pentecostal pastor who has made it his business to baptize the rest of these sinners. When all the kids took their tops off and sat in Utopia’s lake, he turned his back and gently wept and begged the Lord to guard his thoughts. What are those thoughts, Jonathan? Are they shady as shite, Jonathan? I’m pretty sure you’re thinking about boobies, Jonathan. Enjoy your eternity in hell.

quote:

Dave is fresh outta jail and was the first (of several people) to throw a temper tantrum. For sheer number of breakdowns, the opening 48 hours of Utopia rivals any full season of any reality series I’ve ever seen with the exception of Bad Girls Club, but Dave gets special points for kicking off the Bad Behavior Parade with a shrieking fit in the first 10 minutes of the show. The Utopians each brought a box of personal goods with them, they were told they could keep whatever they could fit into one big communal crate, and Dave went nuts about how his whole box would go in or none of it would go in, and it all got a little crazy. As of this writing, he's left the compound, I can only assume because of another hissy fit. Also, he pounced on Josh like a flying squirrel when Josh got super drunk, and even more damningly, he declared Red his BFF bestie for real bro. Quite a wagon to hitch your horse to, Dave.

And she won me over especially in the end when she goes off on the host and how much he sucks.

Is the host guy the same as the narrator? The voice doesn't sound the same, but why the frick would they hire two people to do a one-person job?

No idea. I figured it was the same person, but didn't really pay attention to how alike they sounded.

I can't wait to read that when I get home.

I'm not even going to start watching live feeds. I'm so engrossed in just the show that I'm pretty sure I could lose inhibition and just veg out 4 hours a night if I got involved with live feeds.

IMO it's not fun to simply watch people do shite. At least the show is edited and structured around some sort of narrative...watching live feeds of people doing mundane shite 99% of the time, or in some cases quite literally doing nothing, is not interesting for me.

BTW, I said earlier that the show airs twice a week for a year...nobody corrected me on that, so is that accurate?

That's what it sounds like... or until it gets canceled.

I feel like they aimed a little high with a year. Maybe should've gone six months (or three or four). For it to stay on, they need ratings, and you're talking about over 100 episodes that you expect Joe Q. Public to watch for a very long period of time (TV-wise).

Definitely should have gone 6 months and broke it into seasons... If they market it right during the World Series and Fox NFL Sundays and their Saturday night College games, they have a shot to carry it into March or so.
