My wife reads books all the time, and she loved these books. She said they just really nailed what it's like to be a teenage girl. Isn't this okay?
Frankly, if it gets people reading and it's not brainwashing people and turning them into flesh-chomping zombies, I'm all for it.

I dunno, the next book doesn't really translate all that well to film...so much of it is sappy monologue rather than events to act out.
Only book of the 4 that I started skimming forward to the worthwhile parts.

I haven't read the books, but the wife asked me to watch the movie with her and it was pretty terrible. Pussy bad guys, fig good guys, and overall written like that of a mid-season TV show episode.

You know the counter already....the movie doesn't do the book justice. I wish folks would stop using movies to "read" books they are half interested in. Don't get me wrong, the books aren't artistic or even original, at least not enough for me to recommend. They just aren't that bad if you can just get past Bella moaning about Edward's perfect chin. Which is why I skipped parts of the second book till the suspense/action started to build again....half of it is basically Bella going through withdrawals

People who get irritated by a movie crack me up. It's just a movie god damn it! If some people like it...who gives a shite? Let them be. If you don't...that's fine too...move on.

Exactly. It's focused on the "romantic" vampire and completely disregards EVERY OTHER aspect of the vampire mythos. For that reason alone it pisses me off.
Then again, there hasn't been much good vampire fiction out in a long time, even though the shelves have been full of vamp fiction for the last couple of years.
