I meant to say sets up Rust with Laurie. My bad!
I've already seen a scene where the four of them go out to dinner together.

what does this mean?
Maggie sets Rust up with laurie (I don't think we know who she is at this point?) and they almost get married (they definitely live together)

my guess is Rusty and Marty's wife become friends and somewhere down the line rusty tells her about Marty's cheating

The only other thing I don't get is how the Chief says that MM is only there by the grace of Marty's reputation when it's clear that Marty doesn't like him and would like nothing better than to be rid of him? Why wouldn't Marty just say, "I can't work with this fricking guy," and then he's gone. Boom. No story.
in ep1 the Chief basically gave him the opportunity to dump Rust. And he didn't. He knows he is a good detective

HA HA! My wife said "bitch" when she saw dat arse and dem tittays.
OK...Childishness aside. I have not read this entire thread but at least now as the audience we get a little bit closer to understanding why Rust is so fricked up. He is becoming one of my favorite HBO characters. A lot of complexity to him. He and Martin's realtionship is 1 part hatred and 1 part mutual respect. Aside from the lovely nakedness of Tits Magee, I enjoy watching them two interact. Martin seems out of his league compared to Rust from a detective standpoint. And Martin seems to have as many or more skeletons in his closet.

Same here. A lot of posters saying "Rust isn't interested in sex..." uhh that girl selling him the drugs was nasty and those women at the bunny farm looked like a bunch of meth heads. Michelle Monaghan is a million times better than the women he's interacted with so far. I tend to think that they had a connection in the first episode during the dinner. She knows what's up with Marty and I wouldn't be surprised if she starts connecting with Rust and then having sex with him.
i think in the end he's more interested in being around Marty's kids. I can already tell through 2 episodes they are painting Marty as the bad guy.
He'll get into Rust's face next episode thinking he is banging his wife, but in reality he is just over there fixing a water leak(really doing something very important for his family...what that is, i dont know) or something. I dont think he'll even bang her, but you never know.

agreed - dont see how they can be partners for 4 1/2 more years if Rusty banged Marty's wife 4 months in to their partnership
unless the show takes a huge leap forward in the timeline in a coming episode
You can see the basic premise lining up
Marty justs wants to close the case and move on to more time for motorboatin Tits Mcgee
Rusty wants to solve the case
Polical pressure comes to speed up the process and close the case
They arrest a suspect and Rusty is convinced it is the wrong guy
Marty just wants to go along to get along
tension between them builds up, etc

Also did ya'll notice the intersection of Airline Hwy & Causeway Blvd in the scene before Rust visits the prost. for the pills?
Posted on 1/20/14 at 11:19 am to Fishwater
Yep, the Causeway/Airline interchange is where I score my pills from prostitutes as well.

Sounds about right.

I did. And as someone said earlier, when he was talking to the whores on the street, that is Harahan. the old gas(old hickory) station by the playground, and VFW across the street.

So I guess you know the guy from lake Charles that created this story? Great episode though. Another HBO reuse is the young guy asking old MM questions. Eggs from true blood.
It's not Eggs from True Blood. But if you've ever watched Sons of Anarchy he was head of one of the gangs Jax works with.

Honestly I noticed that and the only thing I could think back to was how Marty's father in law said "everything is sex nowadays"
Other than that I have no idea why two little girls would be playing gang rape with their dolls

I just have to insert this name again: Alexandra Daddario.
That is all.
That is all.

I need to go back and watch again with subtitles as I had trouble understanding some of the dialogue. Think when Marty was walking down hall to the girls room they were whispering about Rust's daughter and the accident. Thought the Barbies were a recreation of the accident scene by the girls. Could be wrong though.
