re: True Detective Season 2 Ep. 2: Night Finds You

The problem with this season is that there are too many damn threads. We've got 3+ different people/interests trying to solve a murder we don't know enough about. Not to mention that we don't care. So an old crooked official for a crooked California city that nobody knows exists because it barely does gets offed. Why should I give a shite?
Season 1 involved child murders. There's an obvious sympathy for the victims there, plus MM's character had just lost a child and we went home with WH's character every night. I don't care about Casper, I don't care about Vince Vaughn's problems, and I don't know enough about the other three detectives/patrolman to know if I should care.

No shite. An episode and a half in and people are pissy. Give it time to establish itself some more. I have no doubt it will all tie up in the end and be great much like Season 1.

I mean now they're sitting around looking at this guy's day planner and I still don't know who Casper is or why I should give a shite about his death. I mean, if they find out who killed him then what happens? VV gets to make his big infrastructure deal? The shitty city gets shut down for being corrput? Who gives a shite.
shite, I'm more interested in just following Colin Ferrell's character around for the whole damn series if we could. His life is shitty and tragic and darkly humorous. It's a hell of a lot more entertaining than this murder.

At the very least, I think we had some concept of what was happening and kind of where we might be going. I'm just kind of lost with this season.

I'm just getting bored. I have six people over and people are talking, on phones, playing with dog. We are a normally focused group who never do that during GoT and other shite we watch.

I know it's only the second episode but this is soooooo boring. None of the characters are interesting and Rachel McAdams' character needs to go jump off a bridge. I think the show's own success is going to be its' downfall. The first season they captured lightening in a bottle with Mcconaughey and Woody Harrelson and they won't be able to do it again.
The ONLY interesting thing that has happened is when Colin Farrell beat the shite out of that kid's dad.

That's how I am. Last year I was captivated from the first episode and wanted to learn more about what the characters were going through. Did they lose some writers?

Same. He's the only interesting character.

I think the success got to his head, is becoming indulgent. Same thing happened to GRRM for books four and five.

Well even though Martin had a dropoff from the 3rd to 4th books, his writing was still pretty damn good and kept me interested. These guys are trying to do way too many things at one time.

The writing was indulgent even in season 1. The difference was we were actually going somewhere. It felt important that these murders/disappearances be solved. There was something at stake and, as damaged as they were, MM and WH seemed to have the chemistry needed to solve it.
Can someone tell me if they're any closer to solving Casper's murder now?

Also Rachel McAdams needs to chill out about her sister being a call girl and mind her own damn business.

As far as I know, there's only one writer for this show.
