Yeah, but isn't there also a stereotype (not saying just from this episode, even though that's obvious, but IRL too) of the alcoholic cop with family issues? I mean TK simply being single wouldnt' make all his coworkers say "oh you aren't dating anyone right now? Must be gay!"
Idk. I mean, I'm straight but if almost everyone else was gay and I wanted to pretend to be gay to fit in, I wouldn't necessarily start dating dudes or trying to frick them. I'd just remain single.

Well damn, now that you mention it And I loved Deadwood, he looked familiar then too, just never looked him up.
Some notes on other questions:
Vera is the missing sister and she is in 4 episodes according to IMDB and she's not listed as anyone else.
The clapping erasers to me seemed to be "dry erasers" and dust comes out
When Vaughn gave Colin the photo he said it matched the description and Colin seemed to agree so I hope it was the right guy for his sake. The mom of the kid must be a redhead.
The 100 mph motorbike sliding just a little before a complete stop annoyed me as well.
I liked all the previews were from Ep 1 and the rest will be unseen except from previews for the next week.
Not sure why the cop would be gay, I just think he suffers PTSD and needs help.
Oh and to SoCal dude, my buddy is a white cop in NorCal and is all into the Mexican theme/music and would wear that little tie thing

After watching Ep 1 last night, Ray gets a mug...

I don't know why everyone in this thread seems to be getting their panties in a bunch, it's obvious that TK's character is gay. Some people here just have a problem accepting that for whatever reason.
Also, something else I didn't see mentioned...did anyone else notice that FD referred to Athena as the "goddess of love." It's clear that he is FOS and the New Age institute is just a front.

What? No
It's possible, but it's not "obvious"

I watched the first one. I thought the writing was horribly overrated and the acting was underrated. If you removed MM and replaced him with an average actor, it would have been a one year series.

Possible, not obvious. Other equally possible theories have been posted.

Why is anyone gay?
It makes sense why his character would try to cover it up or even repress it...the Army and police force aren't exactly the most gay-friendly institutes around.

Should have eliminated the McAdams character...she serves no purpose other than a forced bad arse female character...her and Ferrell are exactly the same. Would be better if it was just Riggins and ferrell. More time to develop their dynamic

He doesn't even spend the night with the chick? Why mess around with her at all?
I mean I guess if he blatantly parades her around his cop buddies in later episodes one could make the case but why spend any time with that chick if that is the case?
As someone else said, why not just remain single or in the closet or whatever?
It would make the entire scene with that chick, basically pointless.

Yeah I don't know where all this gay talk came from.
He very well could be, but I have no idea how you could tell that just from what we've seen so far.

What are the clues that make it so obvious?

I don't think it's obvious, but something that could easily be inferred by clues people have described.
Anyone who says it is obvious one way or another is just being stupid.

Maybe the two girls look alike because someone has a "type." After all, TK finding the body doesn't really give him any connection to the case yet, especially since he is currently suspended.

Mizzou,
I also wondered about the "Athena, Goddess of Love" comment. I can't imagine that Pizzolatto would have mixed up Athena and Aphrodite, so it must mean something. WHAT it means is the mystery.
